Steelers' fan memory of a memorable Skin's game

Sorry guys to bring back this horrible memory, but I watched the game live and cringed when LT sacked and collasped Theisman's leg in that now infamous MNF game.

One of the most God-aweful leg breaks I've ever seen. At least LT had enough sense and class to immediately shout for help for Joe as soon as son as it happened.

Horribly distrubing, still remember it as if it were yesterday. Wish I didn't

And my meorable event about the Steelers is the crushing defeat that fell them this past AFC champioship game at Heinz field which really isn't a field but a dirt track. Boy what a disaster that was. Baby Benn was all confused. The shock of another crushing defeat put old Myron Cope into retirement, that must really suck.

Whoa, CRT3 nailing me with some smack. I guess you haven't read my posts on this board this evening and if you have, either you missed a few or your reading comprehension is poor.

Per your profile, your DOB is March 12, 1963. Going by your post alone, your year of birth should be 1993.

BTW, mine is 1968. Unfortunately, we're both Pieces since my bd is March 5th.

He probably came to this post first, and thought you were talking smack. I always liked the Steelers, as I'm originally from PA, and had a ton of freinds that were Steeler's fans. Good luck this year. If you go the distance, please, for God's sake, take out the Pats. I'm sick of hearing about those freaking guys.

thx

The way we kicked their asses in last year's game prior to handing the Eagles theirs, pisses me off of how we could not come out of the Championship game as the victor.

I believe we have these mofos again this year in week3....litmus test galore.

ok my opinion, the pats were surprised by the loss of ty law during the first game, Cowher took advantage as any good coach would. But when Belichick had time to plan for the absence of Ty Law in the AFC championship game the pats took it to you. Also didn't they not play with dillion in the first game? didn't they rush like 3 times for 5 yards or was that a different team? I know it was a team that played you because you took our spot at best run stopping d that week.

BUt i will be rooting for you to take down the pats week 3, i like to cheer for the underdog(wierd to say a team that went 15-1 is an underdog isn't it?-- but then again the whole league is an underdog to the Pats)

well, you know we could have keep that defensive title if our D wasn't on the field so much... 5minutes more per game than the steelers (and probably the bills)... man that offense needed to help :(

You know what-- i am now depressed.

now if i dwell into the memory of my memory(?)-- We averaged 4.4 yards per play they averaged 4.7 yards a play, but buffalo beat us both with 4.3

SO they must have had a lot less plays

I think there has always been some similarities with these two franchises.

1) both scrappy (pun intended) teams on both sides of the ball
2) not a Hollywood type of team ala SF and Dal
3) both always concentrated on trying to have a good running game and D

...etc.

Guess thats your version of smack, what a shame. This was the 1st post I have read of yours but in truth those things did happen to the Steelers.

football fans football fans,
Now lets end this conflict please. Scrap you have been nothing but curtius and kind to everyone and i know you weren't trying to stir anything up with anyone, but it is a touchy topic to redskin fans and the championship game is equally as touchy to steeler fans. Sometimes it is hard to hear about bad times from someone that doesn't feel as bad about the topic as you do, CRT obviously doesn't feel as bad as Scrap does about the championship game and Scrap also doesn't feel as bad about Theismann as CRT does, if either of the comments made were to come from fans of your own teams it doesn't feel as much like "smack" talk. Neither of you wer trying to make anyone upset and i haven't seen anything but good things from both of you in the past. An understanding can go a long way

Very nicely done BigSkin.:grouphug:

ScrapDog: I'm in full agreement with you that the similarities between the Steelers and Skins are pretty significant over the years. Probably why the Steelers have always been my second favorite team. If the Skins can't be there, I always cheer for the Steelers in the playoffs. So here's to hoping that we see you guys in Detroit in January (and best of luck for an injury-free preseason game this Friday).
