Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
I guess he'll have to pursue rookie of the year somewhere else. Talk about a waste of a 3rd round pick.

Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
What's interesting is that if the Skins had made that move for Clarett people would be calling for Snyder's/Gibbs'/Cerrato's collective heads. Just goes to show that even the best of FO are prone to making some personnel mistakes and blunders.
It's even starting to look like we got the best of the Champ/Portis deal. Champs a little nicked up right now, but only time will tell. |
Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
Talk about a complete waste of talent. This is why the age limit is good. It gives time for guys who don't have the complete package, including talent, brains, heart and physical toughness, time to wash out. This the perfect example of a guy with decent skills but nothing in tank as far as brains and heart. And don't even get started on his toughness. Has he ever been injury free? Even his freshman year at OSU he got banged up.

Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
This doesn't surprise me in the least bit. I said before the draft there was no way he should have gone before round 6.......turns out even that was too high. I just think it's funny because I remember arguing with someone that said that Clarett "was twice the back that Larry Johnson is". :laughing2 Yah, they must have been right on that one.:smashfrea
On to the CFL Maurice. |
Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
:laughing2 This is great news! I can't stand that ass-monkey Clarett. Despite all his knuckleheadedness at Ohio St after he was kicked off the team, I was actually interested to see how he would perform at the Combine.
And then that f*cktard decides he's too good to workout like all of the other players. I wrote him off right then. I also heard that he passed on a signing bonus of ~$500K for a contract with up to $7Mil in "incentives" (I'm sure Denver made almost all of them unattainable - i.e. $1Mil if he doesn't say anything stupid to the media, $700K if shows up on time for practice everyday, etc...). Irony is - if he had taken the bonus, that "hard money" would have made it a lot harder for Denver to drop him - because of the cap hit! Honestly, I hope this butt-pirate doesn't get a contract in the NFL and has to play in some foreign league with Lawrence Phillips. Ha ha ha - Clarette is a joke! :laughing2 |
Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
a 410$ SB over 4 years isn't exactly the kind of job security that someone like brunell has been granted.

portis was a bit knicked up too (elbow) :P... but seriously, I think the best way to look at that trade is who would you rather have, champ/trung or portis/springs? that's oversimplifying it a bit (wouldn't have kept champ anyways, could have gotten a different back etc), but it makes it a very easy question ;) i was never a big champ fan anyways, and i love how CP is all heart. |
Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
I wonder if this is the last we see of Clarett...he's gotta make a practice squad somewhere.

I think we'll definitely see this kid - this year. As the season progresses and teams get nicked a little he may see some action. But you have to wonder because Denver is running back factory, if he can't make it there then where? |

Portis is a beast and I get a sense that he enjoys being a Redskin. Perhaps the revolving door and chronic losing Baily experienced here may have had a negative effect him. |

I think the difference in relation to the Skins is that Denver has been able to make the playoffs pretty consistently, whereas we have not. But this really does reek of unbelievable incompetence and just leaves me scratching my head. |
Re: Bye Bye Buckeye: Broncos set to release Clarett
It is not incompetence. Shanahan has a pair of brass balls and is not afraid to cut a guy that has not been healthy enough to play in a single preseason game. He does not care what the media and fans say. Yet they go to the playoffs almost every year.
Redskins, on the other hand are afraid to admit when they are wrong and (for example) cut someone like Taylor Jacobs, who like Clarrett is never healthy. Freaking Michael Barrow is another example. We held on to him way too long. That probably contributes to why we have been to the playoff once in 12 years. |

I think thats a bigger part of the problem then a couple low risk investments... i mean, barrow and jacobs really aren't/weren't making that much compared to bruce or deion. they drafted three corners in the 3rd round and a RB no one else wanted till sometime in the 6th round... drafting that far off board for someone nobody wanted and then cutting him isn't brass balls, its f%^&ing stupid. |

Deion was the only thing worse. :vomit-smi |
