What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
Wellington Mara as we all learned yesterday was possibly the greatest human being to ever walk the earth. He was a pillar of the NFL and responsible for much of the league's success. All accounts indicate he was a class act. At his passing, the NFL goes into mourning and the Giants play as if they were the '85 Bears... We know this...but what do you think the reaction would have been if it had been Dan Snyder who had "passed on?" Who would be giving the sideline testimonials as to how wonderful a person he was? Anyone? Would players burn money in memorial of ol' Dan? Would Coles show up and bring a Plasma TV to his service? I don't know, but I definitely don't see LaVar and the 'boys coming out and putting the most complete ass whooping in recent memory on ANYONE. But as yesterday proved... what the hell do I know.

The rest of the NFL would probably throw a big party!

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
There are a few misconceptions about how players view Dan Snyder. One thing cannot be overstated, though - he pays very well.
So, what would the reaction be? Grief for some, indifference for some, and the inconsolable emptiness when someone fixes a broken cash machine that spits out too much money for others. |

Players would be solemn, fans would live it up ;)

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
Thats not a fare question your comparing a person who was an owner for over thirty to one of only five years.

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
There are very few owners in Sports that would be mourned like that, not just Snyder. Mara was a founding father in the NFL. He was instrimental in revenue sharing which is a the backbone of the leagues success. He meant a whole lot to the league as a whole, not just the giants so it's not really fair to expect any owner let alone Danny to live up to that.

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
I am sure he was a good man, but it sure did make the football game that less fun to watch, it was like evertime they said something about the guy, the redskins were cursed, so that is why we played the shitiest game in years, the y wouldn't shut up. If Danny Boy died, well we probably would play a shitty game because nobody likes him....Hail To the practice squad this week!!1

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
Give him another 28 years of ownership in the league and let's see where he is. I believe he truly loves the Redskins and wants to win badly. I wonder how Mara did in year 5 of his ownership tenure. Plus...it was a MUCH different league back then.. no advertising, revenue sharing, no popularity, no nationwide interest...etc. He wasn't under any microscope like Snyder is now.

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
Snyder could definitly become a great owner of the redskins and some day be remembered fondly in Washington. But what made Mara special were his contributions in helping to build the NFL & being a very well liked man league wide. If all that matters is results then Mara's track record was surpassed by JKC, but there was no league wide memorium for big Jack...

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
Not only would everyone need to pay to get into the funeral service. You would also need to pay for parking. - but at least, high profile free agents not on the team could be flown in on snyder one.

Re: What Would Happen if Snyder Died?
30 years? Didn't Mara own that team for something like 75 years? I don't see Snyder lasting that long. Remember, he made his big money not by operating companies but by selling them.
