Is it just me...
...or does EVERY unknown, former Redskin or slumping player have a breakout game against the Redskins?
I can think of at least one person in each game barring the Bears and 49ers games that has done such a thing. Simms last night. Brown for the Eagles. Pierce for the Giants. Allen for the Chiefs. Bell for the Broncos. And the list goes on... I, just as many of you felt completely sucker punched, as someone put it. Again, as is always the case with the Redskins, turnovers were the difference. Our points were scored and given away by the play of Mark Brunell. He had a not-so-great first half and an excellent second half. The defense can only do so much against a short field. The positives that can be taken away from this are: 1) Portis didn't look like the "system back" that I feel that some were making him out to be. 2) Special teams kickoff return for a TD. 3) Brunell finding even more targets on offense. 4) Running and moving the ball at will (except in that last :54) against the #1 defense We basically owned the Bucs in all senses of the word except in the turnover differential. The good thing is, the Giants lost, and hopefully the Eagles win tonight and even everything up. It hurt, but to put it fairly simply, it ain't over by any means. |
Re: Is it just me...
I wouldn't call Priest Holmes or Tiki Barber unknowns, but I do call Chris Simms Firemarshall Bill!

Re: Is it just me...
Yeah, I'm not saying normal stars. I'm just saying the people we USED to have or typical unknowns have a breakout game EVERY TIME.
Also, there always seems to be some wacky record that gets broken against the Skins during a loss. |
Re: Is it just me...
he didn't get in

Re: Is it just me...
we are in every game(except giants)when we play as good as we can,the skins win.its that simple

Good post, Malcolm.

Re: Is it just me...
No it is not just you, I used to always say that about Emmit Smith even his last year with the Cowboys he struggled all year but blew it up against us. Same thing this year. Our defense is solid and can shut you down 98% of the time, but that other 2% a star is made with a big play and a lost for the skins. It is getting scary predictable because everytime things seem to be going so good, with the exception of the 49ers game disaster strikes and we have an opposing player on a highlight reel. They will be talking about Chris Simms all week.

Re: Is it just me...
Yeah and wasn't Simeon Rice having an off year this year until our game?
|
Re: Is it just me...
Maybe being suspended against the Niners by the Bucs gave Simeon extra motivation

Guys, it is Monday and it hurts to be on the losing end of a fantastic game to watch, that is if you were not a fan of the losing team. The season has a long way to go yet and I feel like the Skins control their own destiny to a certain extent.

What you say is right Scowan......But the things that keep happing game in game out to the Redskins should have been fixed by mid season! If not no play-offs and no draft picks 2006! |
Re: Is it just me...
Just so ya'll know, I'm calling it now. Warren Sapp will have a HUGE game on Sunday. We might win (and should) but this is the phenomenon I've been talking about. A slumping has-been will have a career day and it will be Sapp.
