Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
He's kicked 50+ yarders for us befre. Hell, he's kicked 50+ yarders consistently for the Jets. Now his range is suddenly 45 yards? Is this guy fully healthy? If Novak's without a team next year, get him and cut Hall. Hall is primed to be a salary cap liability for next year anyway.

Re: Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
I think Hall still is not 100 percent back from his injury. That said, I agree: 52-yard field goals no longer are the exception. They're the rule in today's game.

He was also kicking into the wind... |

I agree. His kickoffs have been piss poor though.

was that kick short? i cudnt really tell i thought that it was just off to the right.

Re: Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
I might be going out on a limb here but it could have something to do with his leg injuries. ;)
Anything over 50 is a difficult kick especially on grass, I say anything over 45 is not an easy kick. Bottom line is it shouldn't have come down to Hall attempting a 53 yarder. |
Re: Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
Just pray we don't have Feely kicking for us!

that's what I saw 2. |
Re: Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
Is it just me or did everyone have a sinking feeling after the penalty? I saw the pick and was going crazy! Then the two plays and the hold, movem back 10, I started to feel like "here we go again!", then they showed John Hall and he didnt look too sure of himself, before the injury Hall used to be a lil cockey, but he doesnt have that swagger right now. DAMNIT WE SHOULD HAVE WON! How could Rabach hold in that situation? You know that Bugel told them right before they went on the field, no false starts, no holding.
that's what I saw 2.
It was a little short and to the right and they said he was not making any kicks over 50 yards in pregame warm up.

This is not sudden, nor is it recent. It's ongoing. :dallas: :dallas: |
Re: Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
Leg injuries usually heal, but weaken the leg. 53 yards is anything but easy or the norm (ask Nate Kaeding, as he missed 2 from 40+). wind or no wind, i don't think he got all of it, and if he did, then it's time we get a long FG/kickoff specialist.
I wouldn't call 50+ the rule, I'd still call it the exception. There are only 8 (of 38 who've attempted at least 1 FG this year) kickers that have 4 or more attempts from 50+, and only 2 that have made 4 or more. Neil Rackers is having an out of his mind season. There are plenty of guys that have the leg, but the accuracy starts to wain considerably after 40 yards. Racbach had a holding call or 2 earlier in the game (which I don't recall hearing his number called too many times this season), and I think the refs were specially looking at him. There is holding on every single down... |
Re: Why is Hall's range suddenly below 50 yards?
Hall is a good kicker...He's money from 42 and in where they would have been without the holding penalty. 50+ kicks are tough for any kicker even at 100%. Blaming Hall for yesterday is barking up the wrong tree.
It's old news since it happened under a previus regime but if the Redskins in general had a little more patience with kickers we would still have David Akers today. Regardless, John Hall had nothing to do with yesterdays loss.. |

Novak doesn't have the leg to be a consistent long fieldgoal threat kicker in this league. I think if he was so great like a bunch of us seem to think he'd have caught on with someone. He is a stop gap kicker who is great when your number 1 guy is down but he isn't an answer a kicker. Hell if Hall is healthy he is a quality kicker. He may not be as regarded as others but he is at least consistent. I imagine his past leg injuries may have hampered him abit. The question is whether he can fully heal and stay healthy. I'd guess not. We need to examine other options in the off-season as a precaution. Novak is not a real option. |
