Franchise Help:
1) When a player gets ridiculously good and I try to trade them with just a bit left on their contract (either a year or franchise tag) it won't let me. If I try to trade with more than that the cap hit is ridiculous. Anyone know how I can trade players?
2) At some point I normally get stuck so deep in a cap rut I have to restart my season because I can't sign enough players to fill my roster. How do I create more cap space, and is the only way to save that money cutting my big name players?
3) Ive tried a lot of fantasy drafts to see what works well, what do you guys suggest? There's not a huge difference between backs like LT and Portis, not big enough to blow a first on it. The defensive line is kinda a bust to spend a lot on. I normally get great CBs/Safeties. With a really good DT and sometimes a good LB. WRs seem great, QBs are important, and line evolves as the years go on. Any hints to drafting/building madden friendly team?

Re: Franchise Help:
When doing a fantasy draft, go after top notch young cbs/safeties/lbs and oline as your top priorities and then draft young and fast. Sign everyone with less than 3 year deals to new 7 year contracts and give them the snyder treatment by making them backloaded and the signing bonuses should only be as much as it takes for them to sign and nothing more. Then a few years down the line resign them with new deals that r done the same way. And as far as u not being able to trade a player with only one year left, I don't what to tell u about that cuz I've been able to do that but u want to try and do it before week 6 and try to guess by the current records & pts against/for who will have the top picks in the draft. that's what I do and I've been able to keep a lot of my top players and dump the ones I've started to replace with rookies with draft picks.

Re: Franchise Help:
if you just want draft picks, during preseason, last year's crappy teams' picks are high value, during the regular season it flips (so the SB champs picks are the most valuable... kinda screwed up)... so you can end up with 2 top 5 1st and 2nd rounders every draft.

drafting rookies and giving them bare minimum 7 year contracts with maxed bonuses is the cheapest way to stay under the cap.

During fantasy draft look at age and contracts as the determining factor... you can always get sean taylor and polamalu at safety. The best round one pick is probably daunte culpepper (cheap, fast) or randy moss (the only 6'4" 99 speed WR), though elite DEs can help to... the biggest trick is to always pick one round ahead of when the cpu makes runs at a position (after about 3 rounds it stops picking best overall and starts doing some position drafting). When picking, you can go for lower ovr stats if the low ovr is due to awr, car, tak or something you can fix in camp. I tend to go with speed, especially at LB and on the oline and height at WR (can't fix it and madden gives tall WRs jetpacks).

Franchise gets extremely easy though, cause the cpu doesn't draft well and cpu teams don't get progression improvements like human teams.

Re: Franchise Help:
A cool way to keep your salary cap to a minimum is to edit a player and change him to a position that will lower his overall rating. Now you will be able to sign them to a smaller contract and they will be satisfied. Once you're done you can go back and switch the player back to his original position.

Re: Franchise Help:
So I guess you signed Portis to be a kicker.

Re: Franchise Help:
thats not really legit though and involves editing rosters and players outside of the fantasy draft.

Re: Franchise Help:
I always end up getting bored after a few seasons once my team is loaded with guys rated above 90 and I'm way under the cap.

same here but in the Madden 360 Version to accomplish one of the acheivements, u have to complete 30 consecutive years of franchise mode.

Re: Franchise Help:
first draft had a 6'4" spd 99 WR (to pair with moss), next draft had a 6'4" spd 99 acc 99 CB... that's some good luck ;)

i'll post a new fantasy draft franchise I just did after i fiddle with some contracts that should set you ahead of the game if you've been having some trouble, and it'll give you guys that are fast and will improve very quickly in OVR ratings.

besides that draft pick exploit, something i really like doing is taking a crap qb and trading him for vick (since its easy to improve THA and AWR which are his only weaknesses he gives you an insane advantage over any other qb you could have or ever draft in madden)... just take someone like joey harrington, kerry collins, or david carr and max him on one of the minicamp drills, then through the first year as he's starting he should get 2AWR and 1 THA every 5 weeks (and every post season game)... once he hits 95-99 OVR, you can trade him straight up or with draft picks for M Vick and avoid his killer 28$mill signing bonus.

Vick goes to 99/99/99 very quickly too and cause of his speed is useable till he's ancient. The main reason to do this is so you can take randy moss in the 1st round (who's impossible to trade for) instead of having to choose. CPU team players dont improve and that's why it works, but there's literally not a single other player worth using this kind of trick for...

Re: Franchise Help:
here, everyone has shiny contracts, there's good depth, and if you trade for vick, you'll pretty much be set at every position. Just make sure your QB gets 7 in the minicamp two years in a row and get 2 AWR and 1 THA every time you get a progression and you can trade straight up after preseason #2 for vick and r1 and r4 picks. By season 3 you'll have a QB with 99/99/99/95/95 stats and 94 speed.

Re: Franchise Help:
I get bored with franchise mode too. After it gets too easy, i will change head coach to the worst team in the league and build that up. I usually like trying to stay within the same division so i can battle the old team i coached into a perrenial superbowl team.
