Mike Anderson

So that hypocrite owner out in Denver says they want to keep Portis but "restructuring contracts in the middle of a current agreement is not how we do business". So that's why Portis will probably be wearing the B & G next year. Meanwhile, he wants to "restructure" Mike Anderson's contract and give him a pay cut. Not surprisingly, Anderson wants to be released now

So what I'm wondering is should we go after Anderson as well? Maybe trade Betts for a draft pick?

Betts won't get us much and probably not someone with the experience and potential he has. I wouldn't be surprised that if we get Portis, that we hang Betts out there.

You mean 150 yards, Offiss? It's hard to gain much ground on the bench holding one of the various injuries you have.

The whole Ladell Betts thing irritates me. Thinking back, everyone said that Betts was a 4th rounder at best, and that he was a big reach in the 2nd.

He seemed to run well against the Jets in the first game last year, but I wonder who made the push to draft him so early? Was that Spurrier's call? Do you really think OBC had his eye on a little known RB from Iowa?

Now, Betts seems like damaged goods. I have a hunch that no team will part with ANY draft picks so they can get their hands on Ladell Betts.

I'd love to get Mike Anderson in here though. If that goes through, get ready to hear about the 'Bronc-skins'.

Isn't Anderson getting really old?

Mattyk 02-27-2004 06:40 PM
I know, but they weren't serious injuries and his forarm was a prob. because he tried coming back to soon, he was never hurt in 4 years of college, I hope to say that sometimes you can be just a little bit unlucky, let's face it every back we had last year was hurt for some time, there might be a cooralation between blocking schemes or lack there of and injured RB's, :D until I see him run for a different coach in a rational system I will be a bett's believer.
There has also been rumors of his worth ethic being a problem, or should I say lack of.

if the skins can sign mike anderson, and have a 1-2 punch better than csonka and kickk in 1972 miami,i would be happier than a frog on a lilly pad myself.if they could do that, they cut cut betts and i would not regret it at all.

Wasn't Betts part of the cell-phone crew? I know the finger instantly goes to Spurrier, but these guys are ADULTS that should be able to control themselves to say I can't talk now, I'm at work. I'm only 20 and my job isn't even really important. I either shut my cell phone off, send them straight to voice mail, or say I can't talk now.

i hate spurrier as you know Daseal, but you are absolutley 1000% correct on this one my friend.when you are making the kind of money these guys make
or even if you make the crappy wage that most of the rest of us make, have respect and do your best.if that means saying call back or talk later then so be it.

They are adults but it's still the duty of the coaching staff to lay down the law as to what is acceptable behavior on and off the field.

It goes both ways. If Spurrier let them get away with that crap then of course it's going to happen. Gibbs on the other hand is not going to let that stuff fly and I can guarantee he will let everyone know it right off the bat. As great of a X's and O's man Spurrier was (supposedly), he wasn't a good leader of men. And in football especially, argueably more than in any other sport, you have to be able to lead to be successful.

Do you think Spurrier could have success in the NFL as a O.C? I doubt he'd even get the chance now, but do you think if he was, he could have success?

Daseal 02-28-2004 06:39 PM

You guys are judging a man on two years of experience. He made mistakes in Washington, nobody can deny that, but I don't think he's as bad as that. If we judge people on two years Jimmy Johnson would be flipping burgers along with Parcells, Bellicheck and Mariuchi.
