Before anyone goes and buys that jersey, be warned it is a fake. First hint is the numbers, pretty bubbly/wrinkled (which could happen in the wash, potentially, but of course he says he never wore it). More importantly, that jock tag is bogus. Below are the actually jock tags from 2005-2007 off some of my jerseys. The second auction I'd be very very skeptical of because 1) he says he got the jersey off eBay and almost (emphasis on almost) everything on eBay is fake, 2) those pictures are way too small and makes me suspicious (at the very least you need larger and more detailed shots). I actually just sold the seller of that second auction a legit Santana Moss (yes, some people actually do sell legit jerseys on eBay, but only a handful) so if you see him sell that it is the real deal, otherwise I'd beware.

The old adage holds true, if something seems to good to be true it probably is. Of all the jerseys on Ebay I'd guess that 90% are fakes which is fine as long as you know what you are buying.

Unfortunately it's more like 99%, which makes it tough when someone like me who does a bit of jersey collecting actually wants to sell something because you can't get a decent price due to 1) people being wary of eBay fakes, 2) fake crap driving down prices. And more recently the quality of the actual Reebok jerseys (really noticed it this year) has also declined to the point where it almost isn't even worth getting the real thing (except the Redskins 75th anniversary throwback jerseys are really quite nice if you can find them, which is next to impossible). Still, I'd never be caught dead in a fake. One man's lament I suppose.

For instance, I just went on eBay and typed in "Redskins Authentic Jersey" and there are three jerseys that might be legit. One is a Reggie Brooks Starter jersey that the guy has listed as "Westbrook" (and honestly I don't even know enough about Starter jerseys to make a call here), one is a Gus Frerotte Starter (above applies, but seriously, who would sell a fake Frerotte?), and one Lavar Arrington (not the one at auction, but the one for $59.95 (the detailed pics look pretty decent). Everything else is bogus, with maybe one exception for another Arrington but not enough pics to make a call. But, I digress (greatly).

Some of the fakes actually look pretty good, some not so much. Personally I just stick with the replicas or the Premier ones.

I would have to disagree about the Taylor jersey. I collect jerseys as well and have never seen a fake with the collar where it flaps over the NFL patch like the true authentic do. I'm sure the jersey was washed my Arrington jerseys #'s look like that and I bought it from NFL.com years ago so I know it's authentic.
True 98% of the jersey’s on eBay are fake. But I think I've become pretty good at spotting them. If I had to bet I would say the Taylor jersey is a true authentic.

I must say your 75th anv jersey is sick SC Skins Fan! I'm still kicking myself for not buying one when I had the chance.

Yea I thought I would try. I have so many jersey's and could use the extra $$ right now to help me get a ps3.



I wouldn't really be making that much if it sells for $225 SC Skins Fan. I gave you $105 for the Moss jersey. Then I spent around $55 for the jersey that I took the sleeves off of. When you add the $20 I paid the tailor to put the sleeves onto the Moss jersey I’m out around $180. That's not even mentioning $$ I paid for shipping and the time it took me.
If it doesn’t sell then I’ll be fine with that too because I really do like the jersey. It just seems that lately I've been looking in my closet and I'm starting to wonder how many Redskins jersey's do I really need?

Can someone please recommend a tailor in the DC metro area who would be able to alter the jersey sleeves for me (with the elastic band-- see the moss and portis jerseys in Riggo's post)? I have just bought an authentic Sean Taylor jersey but the sleeves are very long. However, I don't want to give it to a tailor who does not have a clue about altering the sleeves, in case he/she ruins it.

Email him and ask him to send you a pic of the jersey inside out. Look at the numbers. I recently bought a nock off Cooley authentic for $25. Nice jersey for the price. I went home and compared it to my Portis authentic jersey that I bought off of Redskins.com. Sure there were minor differences that wouldn't be able to tell unless you knew that the one was a nock off. Anyhow what stuck out the most was that the Portis jersey had the burgundy number stiched onto a gold number. Where the Cooley one they just outlined the number with gold material. I am not sure if you understand what I am saying or not. If you want PM me and I can text you pics of what I am talking about....
