Just a question. If the REF's were full time what would they do diffrent? What would they do in the off season? And what would they do Monday thru Friday? Other major sports have games seven days a week and need full time REF's. I'm not defending the REF's but I just don't see how being full time would change the mistakes.

it's been gaining momentum, bad call after bad call all year long and the nfl acts like all is well.and i can gaurantee that if it had been the skins instead of the seahawks you guys would be quite irate.if it's bad for them then it will be bad for all.
Exactly, the refs have been hideous all year (Hocculea (sp?) and the guy that did both of our playoff games are the only two I dont cringe when I see em) The NFL should be working hard to correct this, not coddle the refs so that people can't criticize them.

Re: NFL Says SB Properly Officiated!

While I don't agree with the essential sentiment conveyed by the NFL's statement, I would agree that most of the calls that went against Seattle were, in fact, judgment calls by the officials that may have gone the other way if the referee had been in a different location. Not agreeing with the calls, just saying that they weren't blatantly "wrong".

My above statement DOES NOT apply to the Illegal Block called on Hasselback. Until I hear an explanation as to how a TACKLER can be called for an illegal block, I can't agree with the NFL's statement. Further, in light of the blatantly wrong Hasselback call and the refusal to acknowledge it as such, I find the NFL's entire position on the matter suspect.

With that said, this was a very winnable game for Seattle and they just didn't step up. Even the most blatantly wrong call only occurred AFTER Seattle had just committed a turnover - no turnover, no bad call.

Turnovers, penalties, poor clock mgmt, dropped passes, etc., are what Seattle fans should really be upset over, and what the rest of us should be pointing to as the main reasons why they lost the game.
Seattle did put themselves in position to leave it the hands of the refs. Something we did a few times this year too and it bit us in the ass. Hopefully, this brings some more serious discussion about officiating and we do see some real changes, not just "committees".

And I'll make my last comment on the subject (at least for antoher 3 to 4 hours) thus:

Mediocre teams play at a level good enough to beat their opponent half the time

Good teams play at a level good enough to beat their opponent all the time

GREAT teams play at a level good enough to beat their opponent and overcome adverse officiating all the time.

With that said, we didn't have two great teams out there Sunday, but two good teams. One team didn't get the job done, the other got the job done good enough.

I am curious who you think would have been those 2 great teams. I think these were 2 great teams that did not play great games on Sunday.

Re: NFL Says SB Properly Officiated!

this thread is pathetic! why 3 pages on 2 teams that the majority of people here could give a rats ass about?

this thread is about the officiating. it's not about the two teams.
