Tony McGee breaks down the Redskins offseason:

Hey; just got off the phone with Tony McGee who was great as always. He once again asked us to keep sending emails and/or letters to the Comcast Program director. In addition, he would like us to ask the question to her on weather or not it will be a hour long show next year, and ask Lisa when the show is coming back on and what time it will be on next year. Tony is absolutely awesome to work with, so Iíd appreciate it if everyone can take a couple minutes to send a quick email just to make sure things work out for him.
If you want to send a letter....

Program Director at Comcast Sportsnet

or E-mail her @ lpendleton@comcastsportsnet.com

Recap of Tony McGee Answering Offseason Questions:

Starting with LaVar Arrington, I think that there is a very good chance he will end up back in the NFC East. After watching the interviews with him, its pretty clear that he wanted to go and the Redskins wanted him to go, so that I think it should work out in the best interest for both sides. I think LaVar can really be an impact player, and he will be back to 100% and start being the player he used to be. I think its important for everyone to understand just how impressive he was this past year, coming of the surgeries he had. It usually takes a player a full year to get back from those surgeries, so it was amazing that he was able to do what he did. Looking at the position, Andre Carter is a possibility to fill in, and if Chris Clemons can bounce back from his injuries, which will take some time, he can fill in there for LaVar.

MattyK72, the addition of Al Saunders to the Redskins offense will be huge, much like the addition of Gregg Williams to the defense. Saunders did a great job running the KC offense the past 4-5 and they were always a high-powered offense, similar to the San Diego offenses that Joe Gibbs used to have. The difference being, when you look at their offensive line when Saunders was there, they had 3-4 pro bowlers, while our line always has one. On the flip side, we have much better receivers than they had, so it should balance it out, but I think that Saunders is going to have a tremendous effect on the offense.

Now I asked Tony to just review each offseason acquisition we have made so far and just where he thinks they will fit in with the teamÖ.

Brandon Lloyd: I think heís an acrobatic kind of receiver, and should make a lot of plays in the Redskins offense. He is a little bit bigger than some of the other receivers we have but still lacks some size. He should be a quality possession receiver when you look at what we have thusfar.

Antwan Randal El: A great offseason pickup! The only problem I see here as a whole is that all of the Redskin receivers are the same type of player, a quick versatile player. Randal El, is a playmaker however. He bring a lot to the offense, in terms of making up some trick plays, and the special teams will benefit greatly, specifically the punt return team.

Christian Furia: He comes from a winning situation, which brings a lot to the team and the attitude he carries. Heís also a good pass catcher, and should prove to be a solid pickup.

Adam Archuletta: I must admit I havenít seen a whole lot of him, but from what I understand he is a big hitter who can run. The Skinsí need some continuity at the safety position and hopefully things will work out with Sean Taylor and that will be the case with this addition.

Andre Carter: Had a good year in 2002, been ok the past couple of years. He is a lot like the Marcus Washington pickup, a lot about potential. He could be a specialist for the Redskins coming in at DE on 2nd and 3rd downs.

Finally it was asked weather the Redskins are a Super Bowl contending team, and a lot depends on how the team meshes, but I have to say yes right now. I still think the team needs to add depth, specifically to the offensive line, and the possibility of another pass rushing DE is huge. However, if Randal El, Patten, Moss and Lloyd can all mesh well and share the football, the offense is going to be very powerful. A lot will also fit in with who is the QB, as there are still some questions at that position. But once again, if this team meshes early, they proved last year they were a contending team, and with a better receivers last year they probably would have beat Seattle and possibly gone to the Super Bowl. So as with everything, you have to see how it plays out, but this is definitely a team that can contend, even though the NFC East will probably be the toughest division in football.

We will talk to Tony Again in April.

I liked his comparison of Andre Carter to Marcus Washington. I can really see Carter blowing up under Gregg Williams. I'm really excited to see what this defense will be like with a DE coming off the edge that can create pressure.

Re: Tony McGee breaks down the Redskins offseason:

Just something I was wondering.

Did KC have all those ProBowl Offensive linemen possibly because they had a very successful running and passing game? Isn't that kind of the only thing that get recognition for offensive line men? If our Offense finds the success that KC had Jansen, Samuels and Thomas are easilly potential ProBowlers, two having made it in the past and one having been snubbed in the past. Rabach could also rise to that level if the offense is extremely explosive and Dockery has the potential if he ever puts it all together. Having a guy like Bugal coaching them is also a huge plus.

If everything goes as planned, and that is a BIG if...we could have 3 Pro Bowl Offensive linemen this season without a doubt.

I want to add that I am pretty new here. I have been a long time lurker and have visited many Skin's sites over the past couple of years. After posting a few times here and looking around the place I just want to say this place is AWESOME!!! Everything a Skin's fan could want is right here on one site. I applaud those who do all the hard work to keep this place top notch.

Peace, Eric

samuels is top 10, some people have him as high as #5 or so. thomas is top3 and jansen is top 5, so i'd say 3 pro bowlers a year on the OL wouldn't be a stretch by any means.

there is, it was about letting smoot go. in the first few posts i try to explain it. wewhite/st21 was super vague though, and it was an active time for the board (unlike right now) so the confusion took hold and it grew really fast.

Thomas REALLY deserved to go last year. Probably more so than Samuels.

Not that he could have played anyway.
