Vikings | Childress says Culpepper all about the money

Harvey Fialkov, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports in Friday's edition, March 17, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, first-year Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said what QB Daunte Culpepper was seeking was more money and lots of it. "Somewhere there is a buy-in factor. I just didn't think that was the case," Childress said. "Right from the beginning. As I mentioned, I never had a conversation with him about this football team. It was always about what he needed financially and money. I never heard team, I always heard me and I and, 'I need $10 million. I'm a $10 million-dollar-a-year quarterback.'"

Packers | Favre's bonus date extended

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre has had his bonus date extended to a specific date, according to an NFL source with contract information. The source did not know what date the new deadline is, but it is likely that will be the date the Packers will expect a decision from Favre on his future with the team. If Favre retires, the team will gain nearly $8 million in salary cap space.

$8mill could buy you a couple starters...

Dolphins | Frerotte unhappy with way things ended with team

Harvey Fialkov, of the Miami Sun-Sentinel, reports St. Louis Rams QB Gus Frerotte is unhappy with the way the Miami Dolphins handled his release from the team. Frerotte said, "Personally, I don't think things were handled the right way. After playing 16 games, winning nine after they only won [four] the year before, and then to just kind of be put on the back burner, that was kind of tough." Frerotte was released shortly after the Dolphins acquired QB Daunte Culpepper from the Minnesota Vikings.

Lions | Harrington sabotaged team's "quarterback school"

Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington played a big role in getting the team to agree to release or trade him. Several people close to the situation claim Harrington sabotaged his appearance during the team's "quarterback school" with offensive coordinator Mike Martz. During classroom sessions, Harrington put forth little effort when asked to go to the board to break down plays. He was very lethargic and uncooperative during the sessions and Martz quickly realized Harrington had no desire to be there.

that's what i thought... then again his whole team hates him anyways (then again, maybe this kind of sh*t is the reason why).

what was he thinking? If i bomb here, someone else will hand me a starting job? He was on even footing with the lions and would have had a shot to win it back, but now he's going to have to go be a backup (for sure) for at least a couple years.

Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports the Detroit Lions are checking to see if any team may be interested in trading for disgruntled QB Joey Harrington. O'Hara estimates the Lions could receive a fourth- or fifth-round draft pick in exchange for Harrington.

WAAAAA??? apparently they haven't been paying very close attention to reality. unlike ramsey, harrington's team HATES him and (also unlike ramsey) he's going to be owed a 4+mill bonus if he isn't dropped soon.

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins will visit with free agent QB Tommy Maddox (Steelers) Tuesday, March 21. Agent Vann McElroy said Maddox has also received interest from Oakland and Cincinnati, but the Dolphins situation may be the most intriguing because Mike Mularkey is now the offensive coordinator.

Bears | Team begins Griese visit

John Mullin and K.C. Johnson, of the Chicago Tribune, report the Chicago Bears began their visit with free agent QB Brian Griese (Buccaneers) Sunday, March 19. The visit is expected to continue into Monday, March 20. Griese has maintained he will be healthy by training camp as he recovers from last season's knee injury. The Bears are looking to sign a veteran quarterback likely to supplant QB Kyle Orton as the backup and for insurance should starting QB Rex Grossman suffer another injury. Griese's best option may be a one-year deal that allows him to demonstrate his recovery and possibly play his way into another long-term deal beginning in 2007.

Bengals | Team expected to contact Griese's agent Monday

However, a source said the Bengals intend to contact Ralph Cindrich, Griese's agent, Monday morning, March 20, indicating they're not conceding he will sign with the Chicago Bears.

Here is my prediction.... Ramsey has learned more from Gibbs in the last couple of years than he did his whole time with Spurrier. He will be given a shot in NY and will replace Pennigton as the starter before too long. Harrington is a joke. I think Harrington has had more talent arround him that Ramsey ever did, but could not make it as a starting QB.
