| Re: FA QB mama-drama (3/14) Titans | Agent says McNair wants to play 3-4 more years Thu, 30 Mar 2006 15:52:48 -0800 Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans QB Steve McNair wants to play for at least three to four more seasons, according to his agent, James Bus Cook. Cook also said that McNair is not excited about possibly having to groom his potential successor. "All I know is Steve is a starter and he is one of the best quarterbacks in football," said Cook. "And if the Titans do in fact draft a new quarterback and they want Steve to stay around and be a mentor to him, then he needs to have a long-term deal. Otherwise it doesn't make sense for him to stay around." The Titans want to lower McNair's $23.46 million cap number for 2006, but talks between the team and Cook have stalled. Ravens | Team interested in Collins, but price must be lowered Thu, 30 Mar 2006 16:07:19 -0800 Gary Myers, of the New York Daily News, reports Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick is interested in signing free agent QB Kerry Collins (Raiders), but only if his price comes down. apparently upgrading the QB position just in't very important to the ravens... at least they the 7 new LBs they draft this year will help their defense :P

| Re: FA QB mama-drama (3/14) Dolphins/Bengals | Team expected to make a contract offer to Harrington Fri, 31 Mar 2006 18:43:57 -0800 Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports agent David Dunn has been told the Miami Dolphins are preparing a contract offer for his client, Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington. However, some problems remain. Harrington is looking for a deal no longer than two years so he can have enough time to rehabilitate his career as a backup before seeking a starting job somewhere, and he is seeking between $2.5 million and $3 million per season to do it. The Dolphins' salary structure does not typically pay a backup quarterback more than $2 million. Although the Dolphins might be willing to trade one of their three seventh-round picks for Harrington, they cannot meet the higher demands the Lions are likely to make. The Lions want no lower than a sixth-round selection for Harrington and are asking higher than that, according to an NFL source. Miami does not have a fifth- or sixth-round pick this year. The Bengals have a full set of picks this year, but also don't want to pay harrington that kind of money to be a backup.

| Re: FA QB mama-drama (3/14) Ravens | Still pursuing a quarterback Sat, 1 Apr 2006 06:52:03 -0800 Mike Preston, of the Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens are still pursuing a quarterback. Word is they think the Tennessee Titans will still release QB Steve McNair. They also have some interest in free agent QB Kerry Collins (Raiders) and despite published reports, there is also word leaking out that the Atlanta Falcons might be willing to trade backup QB Matt Schaub on draft day if the price is right. Considering all their possibilities, the team still seems to prefer McNair as their No. 1 option. that explains the waiting game... except i'm not so sure mcnair is actually going to be released.

| Re: FA QB mama-drama (3/14) Dolphins | Team close to deal with Harrington Sun, 2 Apr 2006 08:39:22 -0700 Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington prefer the Miami Dolphins over the Cincinnati Bengals or Denver Broncos, according to a source close to Harrington. The Dolphins offered Harrington a two-year contract, but the financial terms were unavailable. A trade still needs to be worked out between the Dolphins and Lions, who is looking for a sixth-round draft choice in exchange for Harrington. The Dolphins don't have a fifth- or sixth-round draft choice, but they do own three seventh-round picks and the team could offer a future draft pick. welcome to the life of the career backup.
