I'm not saying he will duplicate Moss (which I stated in my original post), but his impact will be enormous, especially in the ripple effects it creates for the entire offense. With him on the field, Portis could blow away all previous Redskin records for RBs.

Carter is a very valuable addition as well. But if you're going to doubt Randle-El for not putting up a 1000 yard season, by the same token you have to be concerned that Carter hasn't surpassed 10 sacks since 2002. Randle-El's versatility will help us more than anyone else.
as a DE he averages 8 sacks a year, and an LB, its 4.5

Im all about Brandon Lloyd! Ive been crowing about him since I found out he was an RFA at the end of last year! We'll just have to see if he gets a spot on my dynasty fantasy league team...

Just seems to have some maturity issues.

What is important Carter choose to come here knowing Lloyd was going to be his team-mate again. He had other options, so obviously he didn't think he was so much of a distraction he could no longer be on the same team with him. Further, Lloyd will not be laughing after a loss on a JG coached team, his first laugh will be his last.

Re: Redskins best free agent move

I think picking up Randle-El was the best move so far, because I expect (just a prediction based on his past performance) him to have more of an impact on the entire team. I would suspect that the redskins' concern after the last few games was the offense, specifically the passing game (I know there maybe some arguments with this, but oh well). Well, if I assume this, the logical position of "need" on the team would be wideout - the 2nd/3rd wr (any productive wideout not named Santana). I thought the redskins d was kicking ass as usual even without a proven pass rusher, so I never considered their side of the field. This to me would be a strong argument for greatest impact because Randle-El would free up Moss, making the passing game stronger, which would free up the running game - with Portis and also taking off the pressure off of Brunell, which would also help the line, and so on.

But not only does he provide that, he adds that unpredictable/big play/surprise element to the offense that will surely take advantage of his skills ala Saunders - which would make his acquisition a two-fold impact.

good point, after reading the wp article today it makes sense that his sack #s dropped off, he was playing out of position at LB, and peterson was their weakside guy who was blitzing more.
his downside is his run stopping, but I'm not too worried about that. Can't wait to see how quick this defense gets to the ball!
on O, I'm worried about Loyd too, hope the other guys can keep him level. Players often get into little spats over things when the team sucks, maybe it was the losing that made his actions look worse.
Next priority, sign Dock to a 4-5 yr. deal, we need to keep this o-line in tact.

I didn't say Arch was old, I merely said he is older than our other FA acquisitions and we've seen more of what he can do. I like him, I just think the other guys have more to prove, are younger, and have more overall upside and potential.

he gives Greg williams an incredible weapon. he give qb pressure w/ out blitzing. he can create so many packages that we havent even seen yet because in the past he had to blitz just to get qb pressure. its gonna be fun to watch

Re: Redskins best free agent move

I picked Randle El regardless of whether he ends up #2 or #3. He will electrify the return games, be utilized on reverses and option passes, and stretch the field on 3rd and long. His most valuable contribution offensively could come as a diversion to free up guys like Moss, Cooley, Patten, and Lloyd. However, if Lloyd or Patten move ahead of him on the depth chart, I could end up being wrong.

Re: Redskins best free agent move

Technically, Lloyd comes as a trade, not a free agent, so he wouldn't be among the choice of "best free agent" on redskins.com.

Of the choices on this survey, I selected Lloyd not so much for talent as for where the offense and defense stand. Carter adds more pass rush to an already talented defense. They should be a top ten squad next season, but were top ten in the past two seasons. The offense has one and a half deep receiving threats (Moss & Cooley) to go with a power running game. After Patten's injury, opposing defenses stacked the line and double-triple covered Moss, but the offense couldn't make them pay. Lloyd & R-El both (should) add a new dimension to the passing game that will have a greater impact on the offense that Carter will on the D.

Lloyd should emerge as the #2 WR. I see Randle-El and I think "Brian Mitchell;" versatile with his biggest impact on special teams.

How soon before the season starts? :frusty:

I thought the same thing, but when redskins.com had the poll up they did include Lloyd

It's got to be Randle El. You gotta love the smurfs!

Here's the thing with Lloyd: They had to give up 2 draft picks to get him, and then they had to pay him too (He's eating up more 2006 cap money than any of the other signings). I don't know if the guy brings anything special to the table (correct me if I'm wrong), and they probably could have found a more inexpensive FA, without trading anything.

The Carter signing was smart and Arch is a great player, who's now in a great system.

lloyd is the tallest (barely), the best jumper (by far) and a much bigger talent receiving than El.

All very true, but all I'm saying is someone like a david givens or an antonio bryant comes free of draft picks. Was he worth what we gave for him?

After all these signings, i truly believe that al saunders is the best pick up. if you look at what he has done with three "decent" recievers; watch out NFC East...you are lookign at 30 points minimum per game....portis will rush for 2200 yards....thanx danny s!!!!
