VERY weak playoff chance

I know some people have seen this on the "official" forums, but I figured I'd pass it on just in case.

First of all, I'm posting this because I am baffled at the venom being spewed towards fellow fans still dreaming of wild playoff scenerios. I don't think we have a snowball's chance at the playoffs-- due partly to our record and do partly to our team

However, who cares if some people want to dream? Where's the harm? Why berate them so?

So I propose we make a sticky thread with the possibilites and update it week to week. That way, those still interested could check in, and those not interested can check out.

Please note that I stole this from the other playoff thread-- I did NOT do this legwork myself. Here's what we need:

Skins need to win out (8-8)

There are 8 scenerios below, we need 7 of them to happen in order to make the playoffs:

Giants need to lose 3 of 4 (7-9)
Panthers need to lose 3 of 5 (8-8)
Falcons need to lose 3 of 4 (7-9)
Vikes need to lose 2 of 4 (7-9)
Eagles need to lose 2 (tonight?) plus a loss to us (7-9)
49ers need to lose 2 of 4 (7-9)
Green Bay needs to lose 1 of 4 (7-9)
Rams would be elimated with a loss to us (8-8)

I thought playoff talk was crazy after the Panthers win. It's just crazy after a loss to the Falcons.

I really doubt they will make it. Will they be a winning team next year? I think so.

I don't see anything wrong with this. If we had won last Sunday all the other teams did in fact lose. There is no harm in keeping the faith until we're mathematically eliminated. Will it happen? Probably not because most people use logic and have a basic grasp of probabilities. It doesn't stop some people from buying a lottery ticket and envisioning their numbers getting called. Next Sunday, I'm going to keep track of the aforementioned teams just like I did the past two Sundays. Why? Am I stupid? Retarded? Living in a dream world? No, I like rooting for my team and against the guys we're competing against regardless of rationality.

I just wish there were more pimp hurricanes we could draft...but it was a long year for my canes too...

Keep in mind this is not a knock or whatever, 8-8 has gone to the playoffs before and even though the eagles won tonight there defense looked terrible and I don't see them pulling this feat off in the next 4 games, I think the eagles finish 6-10, I also think the giants will implode too. Maybe everyone here wants to shoot me or whatever for saying this but expect a different kinda game this weekend for the skins we have nothing to lose really. Campbell and the offense had a great game for this to only be his 3rd start even my friend thats a cowboys fan says he shouldn't be overlooked.

Oh Skinsncanes if shake ups can happen in the BCS twice in a season and a team who wasn't even expected to contend for the national title after there loss gets into the national title game and looks like they could beat ohio, whose to say with in the next couple of weeks that we couldn't be looking at an 8-8 NFC team (whomever it may be) With a number 6 wildcard spot? The NFC isn't as good as the AFC so its very possible, I think campbell goes 4-2 as the starter of the skins to end the season but yeah 7 or 8 things like that can happen in todays NFC No one is consistant if you didn't notice.

Does anyone remember who that lucky bastard team was that was 8-8 and made the playoffs anyway?

If we had won the ATL game things would be different. But we didn't and we blew a 14-0 lead and were outscored 24-0 unanswered after that!

I think I am right in saying that the Lions and Cowboys both got in as wild cards in 1999 with 8-8 records. Both then got torn apart in the first round.

No way this Redskin team is going to the playoffs. 8-8 is a long way off they way we are playing.
