Re: Gibbs will be back next year

actually gibbs is ahead of all the other coaches like parcells, and dick vermeil,
vermeil especially.he'd been out the league, was a winning coach, and it took him almost 5 years and a new qb to win the superbowl!

Parcells' legacy with the Cowboys can be framed this way: Instead of joining Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer as coaches who led them to championships, he leaves lumped with Chan Gailey and Dave Campo.

Actually he won the Super Bowl in year 3 with the Rams.

Honestly I think part of it was money. He's getting 5-6 million a year? That's alot of coin. But I'm glad he is coming back. But I hope Snyder strips him of his role of team President. He needs to do a better job coaching the team.

I don't know, I mean I'm sure the money doesn't hurt but he had been offered coaching jobs prior to coming back to Washington.

mmm what? My point was that he left the Redskins "to be with family" and went straight to NASCAR. The 18 hours a day was a non factor. I don't care if he worked 24 hours a day in NASCAR, the point was he left the skins to be with family and went to NASCAR. I proved that point.

Also, this is your quote:
Secondly, who's to say his intentions were not to spend more time with his family?

I am..and I proved it with my link. He went STRAIGHT to NASCAR, did not pass go, did not collect $200.
I understand you're going to get defensive about Gibbs, most do, but he's not perfect.

About disputing him going to NASCAR, well no one will say he wasn't there, but you argued he left due to health reasons, not to be with family like I said. Sure health played a factor, but his main reason was family. (again, I proved that) In fact here is your quote:
Completely different reason the first time. At the point, he was feeling the effects of his diabetes big time

I hope now you are enlightened as to why he left in the first place, and it wasn't nearly as honorable as he would have lead us to believe.

Just to add to that, I speak with guys from NASCAR almost every day and members of Joe Gibbs Racing very often (let's say weekly) and we were talking about Gibbs on Wednesday of this past week. And they were telling me that Gibbs was very much a hands-off CEO as a NASCAR owner. He had a vision of how he wanted the operation run, the means to get good sponsors, and he hired the best people and let them handle the nitty-gritty. His day to day commitment to NASCAR as a team owner has never been as strong as it has been to the NFL as a head coach. Moving to NASCAR definitely allowed him to be closer to his family, it allowed him to spend a lot more time with his wife and JD in North Carolina and travel to visit Coy in Stanford.

That must be nice...have you met any of the drivers?
For some reason I am a Jeff Gordon fan, so I do not like Tony Stewart at all, but I definitely recognize Joe Gibbs racing as a great team.

Yeah I've met several of them. Tony Stewart is really cool, always having fun. Gordon is kind of arrogant. Jeff Burton is probably the nicest of them all.

I always heard Burton was a good guy.

I think it'd be fun to be part of a racing team.
