Either way Miami didn't think Quinn was a top 10 player. Miami thought that Ginn was a better player and will be a better player. Don't get me wrong. Quinn could be a really good qb. But I don't understand how anyone can argue drafting Ginn I watched ALOT of OSU games the past two years. And Ginn was truly a great player. Both on teams and at WR. Again, all the guy did was get in the endzone against top college players. Miami looked at Ginn and I bet they thought of Devin Hester. W/out Hester does Chi. make it to the SB?

You know who drafted for need? Phil by reaching for Kolb. He was a real nice college player but they could have drafted MUCH better players than Kevin Kolb.
Well, I guess Miami had to determine whether a guy who handles the ball potentially 6-8 times a game is more important than the guy who takes every snap.
Miami.........important safety tip: YOU HAVE NO QB

Too many variables surrounding Ginn, in my opinion.
You could be right. But as I said he will be on the field playing teams and probably as a 3rd wr to start out.

Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?

Like I said there were plenty of experts along with Kiper that were shocked that he went as high as he did.

The Dolphins gambled, hopefully for them it will work out otherwise that move will haunt them for a really long time, especially if Quinn becomes a star.

I guess I'm not as high on Brady Quinn as everyone else. I think Brady Quinn is a 2nd round QB, not a 10 ten QB.

As for Mel Kiper? I respect his opinion. But all Kiper had to do was turn on the tape of this guy and see him making plays all over the field. Plus did Mel Kiper judge him on special teams? Again, people seem to forget all about this when judging guys.
I don't think anyone is really disuputing Ginn's game breaking ability. There is no question about it. Even with that in my mind, most experts still had him somewhere between 15-20.

And all of this talk of Trent Green. He's approaching the golden years for a QB so he can't be a long term solution.

I'm not pissed at the Dolphins. They didn't want to pick Ron Powlu............I mean Brady Quinn. Cleveland will find out this guy is OVERRATED! Hate it for Romeo Crennel though.

He has a lizfranc sprain which are notorious for being difficult to treat and commonly recurring. Not to say he is anywhere near that point but if the injury doesn't heal in the stated time it would not be even remotely a surprise and if it doesn't heal properly and they get him out there he could end up with permanent damage.

Generally fast return guys are somewhat diminished in value when their feet slow them down. Otherwise he is good to go.

On another note, at least they are good to go at QB. No injuries worries there at all.

Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?

I've recently come to the conclusion that drafting WR's is a crap shoot. If I was a GM I only would have drafted Calvin Johnson or one of the 1st round Wideouts that fell through to the early second round. 8 of the last 13 top 10 WR have been labled bust, Karl Malone don't like them odds.

Plus whats with all these GM's taking no-name WR's in the 3rd round, the great thing about the 3rd round is you can find pro-bowlers and starters at less heralded positions like guard, linebacker, tight end, or center. The key is value, last time I checked TO and Moss have no Super Bowl rings, Wideout has to be the most overated position in the entire league.

If Ginn is a bust , I guess that Hall < Cb/Mich> and Ross Cb/Ttexas ,, now a NYG> must be bust's considering he toasted both for td's . I would trade Loyd for Ginn in a second .

Horrible reach by the Dolphins, I really don't get it.

My buddy who is a big Dolphins fan was majorly bummed when they passed up Quinn.
I'm going to have to change my mind on this one. I don't think Miami should have taken Quinn. But this injury to Ginn is alot more serious than I thought. I just thought he had a minor little foot sprain. I heard this am that this thing may never heal properly. Not good for a guy that depends on speed. So we shall see. Sucks the guy got hurt after he scored a TD.

Ok, so maybe not off-topic exactly, but certainly beside the point as mentioned above ... I guess I just wanted to use that smiley ...

If the Dolphins misdiagnosed Ginn's injury, just like they did last year with Culpepper and Brees then heads should roll there

Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?

A courageous move by Miami, given the inevitable criticism in passing up QB Brady Quinn.

Here's former Redskin General Manager Charley Casserly on Miami's choice:

We all had it wrong here. Just when I got through writing Brady Quinn's name next to Miami, they took Ted Ginn Jr.! They kept this one quiet, maybe too quiet. Sometimes it is a good idea to let the fans know there are some other options when you pick, but the danger in doing that at the ninth pick, is you might tip other teams on who you are interested in. Now to Ginn. He's the second-fastest player I have ever scouted -- the fastest being Darrell Green, who was the fastest player in my 30 years in the NFL. I remember going to Ohio State to scout Santonio Holmes -- who can run pretty fast -- and just watch Ginn run right by him. Some people feel Ginn will have trouble getting off the press and running routes. I don't believe that. He has foot quickness and the change-of-direction ability to do that. In fact, if you want to press him, good luck -- because if you miss him at the line of scrimmage, you might as well send the PAT defense on because you will not catch him. There are a couple of things that bother me about him -- his pure hands and size. As for size, there are guys like Ginn who have been great pros: Marvin Harrison and Steve Smith. Neither of these guys made a living in college going over the middle. This is a pick that is getting criticized by many, but you won't hear defensive coordinators who have to defense Ginn criticize him. He is also can impact the game as a return man.
