RBs historically wear out very quickly. Most are shadows of their former selves by the time they're 30. The ones who last longer (Curtis Martin, Emmitt Smith) are the ones who work their butts off to stay in shape and healthy. I think Portis will be good this year, maybe even just as good as he was 2 years ago when he ran for 1500+ for us. But I don't see him ever being as electric as he was in Denver. That's not to say he still won't be a good back, but I don't think he's going to get any better. | |

| Re: Portis' Tendinitis Returns I love the one - two punch potential of portis and betts...however, if portis can't go...I have to problem with going with betts. If you recall, people were saying last year that betts may just be a better fit for the redskins running game then portis. Portis takes too many hits, runs very hard, fights for extra yards, and always uses his shoulders to block and take hits. Because of this I can see his shoulders being a big problem again this year. Forget the tendentits. I'm afraid to say that he career will be shorten because of it. |

| Re: Portis' Tendinitis Returns With Portis and Betts both at 100% (or close to) all season, we make the playoffs. If Portis is in and out of the line-up all season, we don't make the playoffs. Also, our O-LINE obviously needs to stay healthy because our backups are what the sportsjunkies would call "hurting." And finally, Santana Moss is the truth, and w/out him in the line-up were fu*%#@!! Peace... |

| Re: Portis' Tendinitis Returns It is time to face the facts....Portis at the point in his career is like owning a high mileage car. He still works but his parts are worn. He is creaky and is more likely to break down. We need to start to develop a permanent replacement in the next year or two. Not that I want to get rid of him, I think he is great when healthy. Be he soon will not be worth his high salary because he will not be on the field. Knee tendinitis in a RB is never a good thing. The same goes for Samuels. Portis and Samuels are two of the higher cap numbers we have. If they start to miss a lot of time in the regular season their high cap number becomes a big problem. |

| Re: Portis' Tendinitis Returns I know it's water way under and past the bridge, but how is Champ Bailey for Portis and a #2 pick looking now??? I blame The Danny for giving LaVar "Ray Lewis" money just prior to Gibbs' arrival, leaving no room to pay Champ according to his true worth as the best shutdown CB in the league. CB's like Champ are harder to come by than franchise QB's IMO. |

He's not being lazy, he just realizes that the team is better off if he's healthy in Week 1 and I'm glad he's being cautious. When he steps on the field, he plays as hard as he can, whether it's a scrimmage or a playoff game. That's a GREAT quality. | |
