Will the Axe Start Falling on the Players, Too?

Am I the only one that thinks, that soon after, the coaches are hired, that players will start dropping like flies? I think the Daniels, Springs, Griffins Etc, are in trouble.

I just mentioned this:

Quote:
I'm much more worried about other players. I think we're going to get overhauled if we switch to a west coast offense (which I hate) and a 3-4 rex ryan defense. I heard that if he went to other teams that weren't built for it, (rex that is) he wouldn't implement it, but who knows...

I actually like the idea of the 3-4, but not the west coast....

I thought Rex Ryan was running 4-6 defense.

well if we get ryan as our DC, we'd probably change to a 3-4 like baltimore has, and griffen would be a good 3-4 DE i think so id expect him to stay if that was the case. daniels could also be a decent 3-4 DE because of his size. 3-4 DEs dont need to rush the passer as well it seems, just absorb blockers. the player that could be hurt by a possible switch to a 3-4 would be andre carter who didnt cut it as a LB in SF 3-4 defense, and is too small for a DE in the 3-4.

Re: Will the Axe Start Falling on the Players, Too?

Actually, I would anticipate that players would want to leave if all the coaching rumors are true. To my knowledge, not a single player has publicly or privately expressed concerns about GW as their HC and the other coaches staying as well. In fact, the majority seem to have expressed their support. And I'm not surprised by their support of GW and current staff; I remember Portis rumbling off the field and going directly to GW on different occasions this year as though Greg was already the HC. What it really says is that Williams has the respect of the players, including guys on the offensive side of the ball. My intuition is that if "Danny the Douche" TM is lying through his teeth about continuity and has a plan to blow up the team again a lot of our key guys will want out anyway. I won't blame them for that, as I won't blame every last coach on the staff for exiting as well. Like SouperMeister said in a different thread, "Danny the Douche" TM is quickly returning Redskin football to laughingstock status again around the league.

We'll have some house cleaning to do regardless.

With the cap we simply can't have a fire sale.

Yeah there is going to be a big time shake up around here. I thought we had some nice pieces in place. Now I am not sure how this is going to go for the players. I don't think that the receivers are immune in this one. I think that Moss could be a casualty. I really like moss, but his numbers are down and he makes a lot. They would probably want to upgrade and get a different player with more size. I think that it would be absolutely stupid, but then again, hiring Fassel seems like the genius move of the week.

I wonder how many of the people who complain about losing some players are the same who complain about Cerrato having done nothing to get any players here in the first place

Re: Will the Axe Start Falling on the Players, Too?

There are a dozen - maybe fifteen - players on the current roster who should cause us great concern if they were to leave the team for any reason. Other than that, their only real value is that they are known quantities instead of unknown quantities who may be better but who may be truly awful.

So I won't shed crocodile tears if even two dozen of the players on the current roster are moved out - or choose to move themselves out.

The REALLY importnat question is whether or not the new FO structure and the new coach recognize who really has to stay and who can disappear...

How fired up one gets on this topic directly relates to how good you think the chances are we're already in a rebuilding mode (again).

I still can't find anywhere that says this guy is necessarily a 3-4 guy...maybe he's just done it situationally??

I dont expect any more changes that the Skins would normally have done if Gibbs stayed. I just dont buy into the whole "blow the team up" theory. If guys can play they will stay, if not they will be replaced (as they would be no matter who was coach) with someone that can.

See Baltimore Ravens

2 DTs, 1 NT, 4 LBS, 4 DBS = 3-4 Defense
