Spags can either be the greatest thing as head coach or another Steve Spurrier of the pros. But at least itís not like he is having to start at ground zero here. The team is set in place. The coaching staff is set in place. All he has to do is come in and prove himself as a head coach. I assume the more success he has, the more control heíll obtain. Still, Iím willing to give him a shot. If he pans out, we should have a good coach for the next decade or so. If he doesnít, then weíre back to square one. But, thereís no guarantee weíre going to succeed with either Fassel or Mooch either. Itís all a crapshoot. They have experience, but neither have won Super Bowls.
No, I'd have been OK with the hiring of Gibbs back in 1981 because it was based on the recommendation of a solid GM who knew how to put a football team together: Bobby Beathard.

If Spags turns out to be the guy, I'm still behind my team all the way no matter who the coach is. I'd be willing to give him the benefit of doubt. And I'm not against the notion of going after a young, hungry coach without experience who is eager to prove himself. I just think there are better options on the table with Fassel and Mariucci, and I do believe there's a rush to judgement of sorts on Spagnuolo based only on his success with the Giants who have better personnel than we do up front.

I just can't wait for this thing to get settled once and for all.

Sounds like you're more critical of Vinny rather than Dan. I do agree though, I'm ready for it to be settled so the new era can begin.
