His starting seasons from 77-81 were just plain old average to below average. And his 85 season was just plain old bad. I remember him being booed at RFK pretty bad in 85. HOF QB's in or around his era were Montana, Marinio, Moon and Fouts. All those guys IMO were better than Theismann. I might take Phil Simms over Theismann.
He did have some average seasons but if you can put yourself back in that moment in 1983 he was considered the best QB in football at that time and that was the most prolific offfense ever. The HOF voteres are very into winning and where you rank among your peers individually and Joe T was at the top of the league for those years. As for Simms I believe he would be in also if he had won that 1990 SB instead of Hostetler.

Our next HOFer has to be a Hog - either Grimm or Jacoby. Frankly, I'm surprised that Grimm gets so much more attention than Jacoby since Grimm didn't have as long a period of excellence due to injuries. I'm pretty sure that of our Super Bowl wins, Grimm only started in the first, while Jacoby started in all three.

I think Russ has the momentum to go next. I think once he is in it will be a while before another Hog makes it in. The voters might see him as representing all the Hogs.

Skinsfan69 said that Chris Hanberger is a no. How can nine Pro Bowls in a thirteen year career be a solid no?

The Case for Gary Clark VS Lynn Swann

LS: 4 SB
GC: 2 SB

LS: 336 rec 5400 yards 16.3 Avg 51 TD's 8 years in the nfl
GC 699 rec 10800 yards 15.5 Avg 65 TD's 11 years

LS: 1 season w/ over 60 catches (61 catches was his highest)
GC: 7 seasons w/ over 60 catches, one w/ 59 catches

LS: 3 Probowls
GC: 4 Probowls

Could someone tell me why Gary Clark doesn't get a look for the HOF?

Re: Now That Monk Is In...

GC VS John Stallworth

JS: 4 sb's
JS: 537 rec 8700 yards 16.2 avg 63 TDS in 14 years in the nfl
JS: 4 Probowls

So, Gary Clark puts up better #'s in 4 less years than Stallworth.

Thanks Buster, that was great!! The picture in the front cover of his ex-wife tearing the picture of his cover picture, should have been replaced with one of her burning his jock!!

Yeah, that's what I thought. Clark was every bit of a huge player with the Skins dynasty of the 80's. A true game-breaking threat, and the 'highlight' guy the voters seem to look for. Reed and Carter will probably make it in before him, but Clark has to be thrown into the ring. Thanks for the research, by the way.

Somebody send this to Peter King!

Longetivity might be the one thing standing in Lachey's way for entrance to the Hall.

Re: Now That Monk Is In...

Jacoby & Grimm . Joe T. would have made it had J. Gibbs been our coach in 78 and installed that offence during Theismann's prime . Clark has the numbers . For you young guys in here , the WR's of today will always put up much larger #'s than the wr's of the 70's . Most Wr's had 40- 60 receptions per year , now 6th rd picks catch 90 in there rookie year . C Taylor and P. Warfield at times had less than 50 recp's in a year .

Of course I remember. I remember Shari in Washingtonian, I remember Joey T. passing out GET HOT WITH CATHY LEE tshirts around the locker room (she was plugging a workout video), and I remember them flaunting their asses all around Tysons. It was straight up Redskin-National Enquirer. I also remember the hot sex busting up not long after Joe's leg. Thanks LT!

oh, and i think i heard Joey ended up suing Cathy Lee.
