I'm reserving all judgment on Zorn. To be honest, I don't remember him as a QB and I don't know how people "in the know" really view him. He could be a great hire, or he could be a miserable failure. I simply don't know.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

First of all this was a horrible repot on an NFL team. That said, I agree with the fact that Zorn does need to prove himself. If he doesnt, make no mistake he and snyder will be facing ALOT of criticism. I'm hoping for the best along with every other skins fan (obviously). I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

No one else does either, I admire the approach you're taking and it would be wise if others followed your lead.

I watched him play with great interest back in 1976 because Seattle was an expantion team just coming into the league. He was their first QB, and I wanted to see how he and his new team stacked up against the rest. We didn't see a lot of their games being here on the east coast, neither did I follow his career after his playing days. Many people have had good things to say about him, so like you I'm going to wait and see.

You know, of the four teams that made coaching changes this offseason, three hired coaches who had never even been coordinators before - Sparano, Zorn, Harbaugh. So this guy can shove it.

This guy from FoxSports is arguably worse. He describes two different coaches the same way, with completely opposite opinions on the two.

The best way to shut up the critics like Pasta Belly, Kawakami (sounds like the name of a moped), and Jenkins is for the Skins to win.

Wow, it's amazing how some of these "journalists" still have jobs. With the saturation the internet brings to the world of sports (and just about everything else), the quality of writing and analysis has certainly suffered. What a joke.

Let the critics run their mouths, as they usually do. Give the man a chance to prove himself before you burn him at the stakes.

Yeah I noticed that the other day too when I read it. This article and a bunch of others is what prompted my 'psychics and speculation' post. I really think all these writers do it just for ratings and recognition to make themselves stand out in the pack of jack-offs currently writing sports pieces.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

All I have heard is negative comments about the Zorn (HC) signing. It's all over most news outlets, and even ESPN shows like PTI who tried to be positive about it, or at least put a positive spin on it.
A few places have said that the Skins PURPOSELY hired underqualified coaches, knowing they would fail, so they could hire Cowher next year. Not sure where or why they would say that, but I just don't see how these signings are a sign of great things to come for us.

In recent history it had to be Steve Spurrier. I'd say Richie Petibon, but he was a successful defensive coach in the NFL before failing as a HC. Spurrier was a joke in the pros. And he knew it too.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

People here are insulting Adam Schein for his unbiased view of what has happened with the Skins, but fact is, it's his opinion. And let's face it, he's not far off. We have all at one time or another said: "WHAT?" Not a single one of us jumped for joy with the signing Zorn, not a single one of us was thrilled with the promotion shortly after the hire, and not a single one of us was happy when he called us the "marroon and yellow". In fact, I thought there was a poll about what we all wanted, and it was overwhelming that we wanted continuity in our coaching. Well, DS missed the memo on that one. Not only did he fire one of the greatest coaches we have had (GW) he replaced him with a no one. Now we're also hiring D3 coaches??? If this doesn't deserve a WTF! comment, then what does?
This guy is right in saying what he is saying...will he be wrong and Zorn will surprise everone??? Damn I hope so, but commenting on it and spinning it as dumb is not only good for his ratings, it's to be expected. DS will have to rely on a shitload of luck for this to work in our favor.
People bet on odds. The odds of Zorn becoming a super bowl caliber coach is slim. DS should know this, but apparently he is too busy looking for YES men like Cerrato. Hey, I'm all for giving guy chances, and I obviously hope Zorn works out. Like sheriff, I will reserve my judgement of Zorn until I see his coaching ability. But it doesn't make the moves any less dumb! Schein is on the money for writing it, and let's hope Zorn makes him eat his words.

Ray Handley- .438 (14-18)
Steve Spurrier- .375 (12-20)
Bill McPeak- .313 (21-46-3) (1961-1965)
Mike Nixon- .182 (4-18-2) (1959-1960) *-had a 2-12 record in 65 with Pitt.

I would have gladly took Handley over Spurrier or McPeak, or Nixon.

ps- petitbon wasn't really given the chance. He inherited an old team that needed rebuilding, and no patience was granted to him.

Please don't speak for everybody Jsarno, because I for one was very happy with the hiring. In fact, I never once displayed a displeasure for the choice. While I wouldn't have hated the move to get Fassel, this hire has made me very excited.
