| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal Are you allowed to designate as June 1 and play for another team before then? must be a courtesy to the player, and a loop hole for the team. Anyone know the rule?

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal It was changed on the last CBA to give players a better opportunity to catch on with another team. For accounting purposes he stays on the Redskins books until June 1 (and thus the cap hit this year is lessened - and we actually get relief, but get cap hit in 2009) but he is free to sign anywhere else.

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal I just got a call... the Bears are flying me in for a workout Monday! I was a stud in high-school, caught 4 passes for 19 yards. BL and I could be a fantastic duo!

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal I guess the Bears didn't learn from our mistakes completely, they had to learn from us somewhat because they didn't give him a 10 mil signing bonus. Either way though wth are they thinking? Grossman to Lloyd? Really? |

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal Though we are understandably disappointed in Lloyd's performance here, I don't think the issue with him was a lack of talent, but his mind set and attitude. He wasn't prepared for the spotlight and the pressure, he reacted poorly, and basically went into a downward spiral. I think he simply lacked maturity. The Redskins gave him every chance, but sometimes people close themselves off and go into a funk that you can't get them out of. Going back to his old college coach, who has faith in him, may rekindle Lloyd's work ethic, confidence and determination. I think he could have a productive year if things go well. |

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal i don't think its a bad move by them. they are paying him next to nothing, and he might not even make the team. for them, its worth the small risk

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal This is really non-news. Lloyd gets a one year deal on the one team where he may have a chance to be the No. 3 receiver. If there is one receiver in the NFL who is worse than Lloyd, it's probably Devin Hester.

| Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal Sadly I'm willing to believe he may do well in chicago based mostly on the fact that they have no one else, and I agree with Oakland Red about going back to his college coach. While I don't think he'll be elite I think he may be a midrange WR there

For those that missed it, here's what Cerrato had to say about Lloyd's release on Riggins radio show last week... Vinny: "It was everyone's decision. Acutally, I think it was Brandon's decision. I don't think he likes football. I don't think he liked playing. I don't think he liked practicing. He had too many excuses for everything. So, I think our decision was the wrong decision when we signed him. It was the right idea to have the Santana, Antwan and another big receiver... it was the right thinking, but it was the wrong guy. We've got an outstanding locker room and to me, what happens when you've got a good locker room and a bad guy, the locker room runs him out." John: "Do you think he's pretty much done, Vinny? Do you think he'll get another chance somewhere else?" Vinny: "He's a talented guy. Somebody will probably give him a chance. I wish the best for him. It didn't work here because, I think, he didn't let it work. He didn't buy into "team" and he didn't buy into the Redskins. He bought into "Brandon", not the Redskins." Adios Lloyd. Grow up and man up. If you do that, you might just have a shot in this league. | |
