| Re: Fabini to re-sign. Yeah, I thought there was better OL depth to be had in free agency than Fabini. Sure, he would've cost a bit more, but why didn't we go after a guy like Jeff Faine or somebody else who has experience playing two positions on the OL. I guess it's okay if the FO plans on drafting OL. |

| Re: Fabini to re-sign. Compared to what is out there in free agency...resigning Fabini was a good move. He was playing in a position that he wasn't used to playing last year and it showed many times. But he was a solid starter for many years and it is always good to have that kind of veteran leadership and experience on the bench. Now, if we can only resign Reche Caldwell. I really think he can be valuable to this team...especially since we released Lloyd, Espy and Harris. |

| Re: Fabini to re-sign. I thought for sure after the seattle game that JF would be released & I was surprised when I read they'd offered him a deal. The right side of the line was always in such disrepair that it's hard to evaluate fabini, but I remember him getting bull rushed a few times in that seattle game. He looked totally overpowered. I hope he doesn't get to play much because thomas is vital to our run game, but if Buges likes him then it's a good depth move. |

| Re: Fabini to re-sign. So apparently the NFL has integrated something into the salary cap formula that gives team an incentive to keep veteran players. Only a fraction of their base salary counts against the cap, in this case only about 56%. I wasn't aware of this, but it makes re-signing Fabini even more sensible. Clipped this from PFT: Fabini gets a one-year deal worth a total of $870,000 to him but costing only $485,000 to the Redskins in real dollars and cap dollars, thanks to the procedure for encouraging teams to choose veterans over younger guys who come much cheaper.
