Re: Chris Henry Charged with Assault; Waived by Bengals

I am so relieved that NOT ONE of the posts I have read yet regarding this story has any mention of wanting the Redskins to pick this guy up. I was expecting someone to post something like that and I wanted to bash them...but...it appears, once again, the Skins fans are just too smart to say something stupid like that. Good for us!

You clearly haven't read all the posts.

Interesting comparison:

With the revelation of the drunk driving arrest and conviction in 1976 of George W. Bush, this marks the THIRD arrest -- that we know of .
These are the times he was caught. Can you imagine what he got away with or was covered up by dad?

Would he be kicked out of the league as well?

Yep.... he would have been. If Chris Henry wants to run for president he can. There's nothing stopping him. I don't think he's been charged with a felony.

I understand Henry is looking for a new agent, you interested? Of course, 10% of nothing won't keep the lights on very long.

That's true 10% of nothing is nothing... Very creative. My point is not everyone's a boy scout. A guy like Henry is under so much scrutiny for how he looks and acts.... GWB was not:

"For almost half his life, Junior was distinguished mainly by his hearty appetite for partying. A Newsweek profile by Evan Thomas, describing his college years, says he "seems to have majored in beer drinking at the Deke House." After he formed his first company (which failed), Thomas writes, "By his own account, Bush spent a lot of time in bars, trying to sort out who he was. He had a kind of ragged nervous energy in that period, and he could be a bully."

The Bush family spin is that the governor quit drinking cold turkey on his 40th birthday, straightened out by the love of a good woman (his wife, Laura.) They even pull out their secret weapon, lovable Barbara Bush, with anecdotes about what a rascal little George Junior was.
But the explosive element here is not booze. It's sex, drugs and hypocrisy. Frankly, it doesn't bother us if candidates have partied, even a lot. Who wants a bunch of namby-pamby boy scouts running the country? But George Bush Jr. makes a big point of travelling around the country and lecturing students on staying celibate, sober and drug free. He does not permit the option of partying hard until you're 40 and then stopping. And as governor, he attacked his predecessor for allowing leniency toward first-time drug users, and pushed a "no tolerance" policy that has sent casual cocaine users -- who's dads aren't rich, or president -- to prison for years. He even has the gall to proclaim that such users "need to know that drug use has consequences." At least if you're from the wrong neighborhood. "

Take a look at that list of what he's been arrested for and tell me you've never been guilty of any of them... Expired registration, pot on your person, above the legal limit driving... even our President has done some of these things.

Re: Chris Henry Charged with Assault; Waived by Bengals

I just like to caveat what I said about picking up Henry. I am more interested in picking up Pac Man, but would also consider Henry for incentive laden deals and a short leash. That way you can cut them without much of a penalty...

but the first concern is ensuring they are eligible to play. If both or either are suspended, then there isnt a reason to sign them.

Then again I still think Tank Johnson made an impact once he game back after his suspension for the Cowboys.

you dont want an entire team or unbehaved players breaking the law. But one or two that performs exceptionally to makeup for the off the field issues Im ok with. And I know I am the minority. I just think it wouldnt cause that much of a problem for our team.

And someoen made a comment to my posts about the difference between TO and Chad Johnson, and guys like Henry and Pac Man. Whoever it was is completely right, IMO, that theres a big difference between creating issues with the team and law. It almost warrants its own discussion on which is the lesser of the two evils. Most people here tend to say they want no part of either. My vote is whichever makes the team win when they are on the field...

It’s kinda funny that W has become the “example” in this case.

Let me preface this by saying I have absolutely no dog in this fight, so this is not me speaking but….There are those who think he is STILL breaking laws left and right.

Again, I have no intention of discussing the merits of such a position but some may point out the irony in the “tiger (or Bengal) can change their stripes” analogy.

Actually I encourage you to read this book on how a tiger (Bengal) can loose it's stripes:

Perhaps you should loan it to all the cretins you plan to bring to DC. If that is mean spirited, then I'm sorry. I’m the #1 second chance guy in the land, but if you can't learn after "a mistake" then you are an idiot and anyone (other than a defense attorney) who takes up their cause is little different.

As was the case with the Pac Man thread, I am retiring from this one because I can only take so much of this pandering to the criminal element. I'm sure I'll be missed.
