| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR I'll give sandtrap credit for reporting the details & posing the scenario, as it's entirely realisitic. I just hope we don't make a play for CJ. The team has really come together for the first time this century & devloped some character thanks to Joe Gibbs. This would rock the boat & revert to the old ways of DS making the big move that in the end signifies nothing. This is a decent draft for wr's in the 2nd & 3rd rounds, let's take our chances there. |

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR I have to admit though, if we got a steal like CJ for our 3rd that would be hard to argue with. I wouldn't like him anymore than I do now, but at least that would make good biz sense. |

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR NO, NO, NO. Not a first rounder and Betts, and NO F-ing way for two first rounders. Isn't, shouldn't and won't be an option for us. Keep our picks, and for damn sure keep our #2 running back.

That seems fair for an aging trouble making WR, who will want a big contract later on. If we get him for a 3rd round draft pick, then that frees us up for some other moves in the draft. We wouldn't need a WR as early(although, I would still want to pick up Jordy Nelson int he 2nd or 3rd), and we could make O-line and D-line priorites inthe early round of the draft.

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR It's not going to happen. Why would Cincy do this? They'll take a huge cap hit. They just released Henry. Manningham could be another Desmond Howard. What message does it send to their players, whine and you'll get released, no matter how bad it hurts the franchise? Cincy is a small market team, they don't have the $$$ the Skins, Cowboys and Pats have to absorb on problems or mistakes. This is the same talk Briggs had last off-season and he went nowhere. CJ is not going anywhere unless a foolish team gives up way too much to get him, and I sure don't want that to be us.

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR some people around here make me laugh. countless posts on how the skins need a receiver. now, MAYBE a chance to pick up a proven, pro bowl type player, and people want to go cheap. remember, you pay cheap, you get cheap. anyone know how old Johnson is? if the trade is our first rounder, and a back up running back( Betts) i do it in a New York second

I wouldn't mind attaining him for a 1st round pick because we all know what he can do, and he is not showing signs of age or regression. I do not think that there is anonther player, much less a WR that we can pick up in the first round (at 21) that can impact the game the way that Chad possibly could over the next 5 years. With that said. Chad comes to us for our 1st and 3rd. We give them Betts and swap 2nd round picks. Or we can just trade our 1st and Betts for Chad like dmek25 said.

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR Yea Chad is 30 so what i hear everyone speaking about he is aging, he is old but I think he is in his prime. Marvin Harrison play great pro bowl caliber the last 5 years he is about to be 36. We could get the same from CJ 5 to 6 years

Unlike other "rival" forums I have visited who, once they learn my fan affiliation, just break everything into a "smack and bash" thread, on WARPATH I can engage in some serious discussions with some seriously knowledgeable FOOTBALL fans, and 9 times out of 10 it does not turn into a bash thread. And for that I enjoy the forum. And yes this is a very workable scenario in this draft day trade. Just depends on how high the Bengals value Manningham. And how badly the Redskins would want to add a proven vet WR. | |

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR I am not advocating trading more then we have to...I simply said I would not trade more then a 1st this yr and something lower next. Some one made it sound like it was going to be a 1st this yr and a 1st next yr. I would say no go. Some people on here seem to think CJ is the anti christ. He is evil or something. I think he is far better then T.O. was when he had his problems and look how he turned out. He has towed the line while at Dallas. Look at Moss who had his problems at Minni. and Oakland. Since being with NE he has towed the line. I think CJ likes to have fun and enjoy the game. No different then Portis was coming out of Denver with his WWF belt and all his antics with the media(dressing up). Some one mentioned the CAP hit Cincy would take. Yea your right. but if I'm not mistaken he could seriously help Cincy out if he truely wants out by paying some of the money back. I do believe one of our very own (Arrington) did this very same thing in order to get out of his contract. So....it can be done and don't think Snyder would not front the money for CJ to pay back to Cincy in order to leave. I like Betts alot also. but...I'm simply saying this is a trade that could (not will) occurr. It would not hurt us either. We have other just as talented RB's that could fill Bett's roll. Run, Run, fumble. You can also suppliment fumble with dropped pass. The only thing I have ever liked about Betts is that fact he is not afraid to run up the middle and take a hit. Other then that I'll say what I have always said. Bett's is not the leading RB because he has a tendency to leave the ball on the grass. Occassionally. Now the question is can Rocky fill in Bett's roll or would we have to draft someone? Rumor has it the Skins have looked at a FB/RB. Trust me I think we have other needs as well I'm interested in a DE/DT but I'm betting if they don't pick that it will be a Safety (just a feeling). but I'm also not going to say CJ would not help us out. I believe he would help us more then hurt us. He's tall so jump balls in the end zone might be taken care of with him. He's fast creates another problem for defenses. He can seperate from DB's on his routes. and last but not least no one can argue his numbers. I don't know if he would put up those numbers with us but clearly if we had to throw we would not have a problem doing so. Especially with speedy Moss, shifty El, Cooley, and Portis all to throw to. Someone has to be able to get open. They certainly could not double Moss anymore and would more then likely double CJ. Leaving Moss to tear up the second or third string DB. Teams would be forced to play more nickle probubly and Portis or perhaps Sellers would have a ball. |

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR Just say no to headcases. What makes anyone think that this guy can put the team before himself? build through the draft! I could see trading for a wideout for "instant impact" vs the learning curve that rookies face but we're not going to be a super bowl team this year anyway. Draft a wr and let 'em learn. They're going to have time to develop. |

| Re: Redskins draft day trade for veteran WR Lets keep in mind that it's Chad Johnson who wants to leave his team and it's the Bengals who have to move him if they want to oblige him. That means compensation should be based on those factors. Anyone who is talking of two first round picks, or a first and third is extremely overestimating CJ's trade value. Remember, if we wanted to acquire Chad for high draft picks we would have done it already. It's the Bengals problem, and Chad's wish to leave that gives us leverage if they decide to move him.
