| Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold Well, Sally is at it again. Sure, she suggests the possibility that our draft could pan out, but it sounds like she hopes it will fail. She calls our draft board a "pretty colored chart" and refers to our picks as "heedlessly bold" and "backtracking." The funny thing was when she called drafting a punter only acceptable if he is "exceptional," as if Durant Brooks isn't. Like adding the best punter in the country in the 6th round to a team in the same division as Pac Man Jones and Deshean Jackson is a bad decision. Sigh... We could win the Super Bowl and she'd find a way to rag on us. washingtonpost.com

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold This isn't too bad, in my opinion. She's written some absolute crap in the past, but this one doesn't bother me that much.

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold I've certainly seen worse from her, but oh what a shocker that she has major issues with our draft. I understand a lot of folks have the "prove me wrong" attitdue given our overall performance in the Snyder era, but she's a constant hater.

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold I'm glad I read the article before posting how much I hate Sally. What's the big deal with this? Seems like the overall point of the article was to argue that we adhered to Polian's principle of drafting talent over need. In many ways I read this as a soft-rebuke, or at least qualifying, of the hysterical Boswell column and recent JLC postings. |

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold It's actually a totally vapid article. Could have been one sentence. "The Redskins draft could be good or it could be bad." Nice. P.S. Has anyone ever seen La Confora and Jenkins in the same place at the same time? I'm just saying.

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold I bet if everyone thought we had a terrible draft she would say ours was awesome. She wants to make headlines by being different.

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold She took a whole colum to say what she could have said in about two sentences. 1st, she said we had other needs (all teams have needs to fill) 2nd, she said we will have to wait and see how this draft works out (all teams have to wait and see) 3rd she stated a few other things which all teams face when making draft decisions. If you ask me its not that she was bashing the Skins but more of the fact she wrote a colum that was just stateing common sense stuff that happens in every draft. |

| Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold " All we really know about the Redskins' most prominent choices, wide receivers Devin Thomas of Michigan State and Malcolm Kelly of Oklahoma, and tight end Fred Davis of Southern Cal, is that they are spectacularly tall. " Is that all we know about them? Oh yeah, they were damn good college football players with enormous potential. I admit that I've never been a fan of Vinny Cerato and Danny Snyder, but the draft has never been a problem for them. They've actually done quite well with the picks that they've had. My problem with Vinny and Danny, and would assume that this would be most people's problem with them (aside from ridiculous beer prices, firing of Gregg Williams), was that they've tried to buy a team through free agency and have traded away a lot of draft picks over the past decade. This year, they do something completely uncharacteristic by ignoring free-agency for the most part and then use all ten of their draft picks. What does Sally Jenkins suggest they do? Terrible article! |
