What has yet to be seen is what age/increased workload might do to his effectiveness. He's going to start this year and see 60-70 percent of the touches, so if he holds up this year he can silence all the doubters.
Why do people think this guy is such an injury risk? Why are there so many "doubters?" He had no injury issues at Minnesota, and has played in all but 3 games as a pro. And the 3 games he missed were the first 3 of his rookie season. He's a young 24 due to his lack of mileage.

I see no reason for anyone to doubt his durability. He may get more carries this year, but will still share time with Felix Jones.

I think it's because of his high contact running style. Backs like that don't always hold up well over the course of a full season.

I suppose. But he's had the same running style dating back to college and hasn't had any serious injuries.

The thing I don't understand is there has been no indication that Barber will be the full time RB. Felix Jones has blazing fast vertical speed and is a home run threat every time he gets the ball. He'll be in the mix from the start. I'm sure Barber's carries will go up 10-15% over last year, but that's no big deal.

I don't see him being the featured back either.

There was also a Landry-Doughty Strong Safety comparison that showed Doughty having comprable stats to Landry when the games they played SS were compared. On top of that Doughty started only 6 games yet he was one of the team leaders in tackles (6th best with 53).

I agree with you on Landry though. After watching games throughout the year as well as highlight tapes over the past week I have to say that Landry is probably the most violent player I've ever seen, and personally I love it.

As far as depth is concerned, the team has 3 rookies that could end up contributing. Moore was considered one of the best safety prospects in DI-AA along with Corey Lynch, Horton was a well respected safety prospect out of UCLA, and Justin Scott was highly regarded during his time at Purdue. Now Scott might be a long shot, but I feel like the team will come away with at least one guy that proves he belongs in the NFL and in all likelihood Moore is probably that guy, especially considering the sucess the team has had with 6th round picks (Golston, Blades, Doughty).
Justin Scott was released. As for Schweigert I wouldn't mind bringing him in for the right price, but I really think Moore/Horton are going to turn out to be pretty good players for us. Therefore I am not to concerned about Schweigert.

Not many people thought Payton would last 5 years , " he never avoids contact " , too small too run that hard , never runs out of bounds , ect. He only retired as the NFL's all time leading rusher .If Barber can avoid taking a shot to his knee , he could be a damn good back for years ,,,, as long as he is in D , I hope he wears down in December each year . No , I'am NOT saying Barber is ever going to be Payton , he just happens to run " angry " as Payton did .

Check out this article...this guy thinks we should consider Schweigert.

"Stuart Schweigert

Miscast as a free safety in Oakland’s defense, Schweigert frequently took poor angles to the ball contributing to the Raider’s 32nd ranked run defense. The Redskins could use his skill set as key primary depth at the SS position currently held by Reed Doughty. He could cover the TE at a level far superior to Doughty right off the bat. He was just released, and for any team looking for safety help, should be a hot commodity. He’s only going to be 27 this season."
