| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James I remember this guy coming out of Wisconsin a few years ago and he was a monster. But he hasn't been able to do much of anything since he turned pro and there is a reason Minn basically cut the guy. Good pass rushing DE's in the NFL don't get cut or traded for 7th round draft picks if they're any good. I just don't think this guy can play at the NFL level. |

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James jbcjr -- worst case scenario is he makes the team, we lose a 7th, and he does nothing. For those of you complaining about the 7th round pick, it comes down to the waiver wire. If James were waived, we wouldn't necessarily have first crack at him would we? Wouldn't other teams get first shot? Either way -- good depth. There's a chance he could become a pass rusher -- I doubt it. However, he's a very very good backup for us.

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James I don't think James will make the team. I don't mind the Skins giving him a shot though.

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James Wait and see, a next year 7th round pick for an ex-1st rounder i'll take that worst case he gets cut if we start him on 3rd down pass rushing situations and his age is great 25, we might use rotate DL and keep them fresh lets wait and see at least it gives us something to talk about. |

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James Yeah even though I don't think he'll be able to cut it for the 'Skins, if it does work out a 7th rounder isn't that high of a price to pay for him. And if he doesn't work out then no loss. |

BTW, there is already at least one Fred Davis thread. Would have made more sense to post this rant there rather than in the Erasmus James discussion. http://www.thewarpath.net/nfl-draft-...s-profile.html (Fred Davis profile) | |

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James Anyway, I don't have any issues with this move. While James has certainly been a disappointment, he still has enough upside to warrant the investment of a conditional 7th. In college he was arguably the best end in the country, and it has been injuries rather than talent which has prevented him from achieving that kind of success in the pro's. Also, remember Minnesota has what many consider to be the best Dline in football. We don't, so the fact that there wasn't room for him on that roster doesn't mean we should necessarily dust off the old "chasing other people's trash again" argument. |

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James Where was it engraved that after the Rdskins traded for Erasmus James that we were done looking for depth at any position? We are deficient in pass rushing depth and the Skins saw an opportunity to grab a player who is very familiar with our D-Line coach. If they don't like him or he simply can't play at our anticipated level then he's cut. Just because we traded for him doesn't mean we are most certainly not keeping our eyes open for potential DB depth.

| Re: Updated: Redskins Trade for Vikings DE Erasmus James I like this move a lot, all upside with virtually no downside. Most seventh rounders dont make the team anyway and we only have to give one up if he makes the squad. |
