| Re: S Mike Doss? It's kind of a shame. He was so awesome at OSU. He just can't stay healthy. If he's a free agent I'm all about inviting him to camp. But all the leg injuries he's had, for a speed position player, he's a longshot at best.

| Re: S Mike Doss? Im all for upgrading at every position as well as depth, but Mike Doss is not the answer either way....Im a Doughty fan for his tenacity, he made the team, he studied and fought to become a starter...unless one of the rookies can unseat him(Kareem Moore,,Chris Horton.. Doughty is my choice as starter at SS |

a key contributor to us making the playoffs last season was doughty holding his own at SS along with landry playing very well at the FS position. | |

| Re: S Mike Doss? I always thought Doughty was a pretty strong tackler. I mean his hits probably won't make highlight tapes, but he is pretty solid. From what I know Doss isn't a bad hitter either but I wouldn't put Doss too much over Doughty in the tackling category. |

I mean whats your problem with Doughty, is it because he was a 6th round pick? Do you need a higher rated safety on your team for your Madden franchise? We went through this exact situation with Adam Archletta. We had a good compliment to Taylor in Ryan Clark and what do we do? We sign Adam Archuletta to a big fat contract and let Clark go to the Steelers. By the middle of the season most of the fan base realized that letting Clark go was a mistake. Now we're faced with a similar situation, in that we have a great compliment to our star safety in Doughty. The only difference is this time the front office isn't bringing in some big name to compete with Reed. One things for sure, if a "big name" is released part of the fan base will be all over the guy screaming vet min. I mean last year Leftwich gets released and the fan base starts screaming "vet min we have no one behind Campbell, we can develop him." Erasmus James, 5 sacks in 23 career games, "lets get him, what do you mean Chris Wilson got 6 sacks last year?" Roy Williams is rumored to be leaving Dallas when his contracts up, lets get him, he's great in coverage. Koren Robinson vet min Adam Arcuhletta released by the Bears vet min I mean damn, everytime. I guess part of me has come to accept it, that this is the way things are but still I can't believe how predictable this phenomenon has become.

| Re: S Mike Doss? Doman, Doss' injury problems over the past three years don't concern you at all? You don't think a solid (if unspectacular) Doughty who actually is on the field and has the support of his teammates is a better choice than Doss? You don't think we should Horton and/or Moore can ultimately be valuable depth at the safety position?

Roy Williams apparently has major issues with coverage. He may not be as bad as Archuletta, but coverage is definately not one of his strengths. The 2005 MNF actually exposed Roy Williams not once, but twice. The good news is the FO and coaching staff has obviously decided to develop within so lobbying to bring in guys like Doss before the season starts is a moot point. If the Redskins are worried about a particular position they will sign a veteran after the season starts. However for now Moore, Horton, and Scott will all have a chance to make the team and possibly contribute one day on defense. Weather or not I'm right about Doughty, only time will tell, but he's definately earned a chance to prove himself. Also: RealGM Football: Washington - Always Improving Defense Gets BetterAlso fighting for a spot on this ball club is the rookie Reed Doughty. Doughty is well liked by these coaches and has signs of a heady-hard hitter. ... Strengths: Possesses good size and can comfortably add more weight to frame. Reads keys quickly, rarely takes false steps and is efficient. Plays with a non-stop motor, takes good pursuit angles and always seems to be around the ball at the end of the play. Plays with a mean streak and delivers some big hits over the middle. Shows good awareness and rarely gets caught out of position when asked to drop into zone coverage. From Scouts Inc: A big hitter, he establishes a level of intimidation by arriving full speed looking for the knockout shot. That nasty disposition and good straight-line speed help makes him a stellar special teams player Reed Doughty delivered a particularly hard hit to the New Orleans Saints' Michael Lewis on December 17, 2006 while covering a kickoff. This hit made ESPN's Jacked Up! segment on Monday Night Football the following day.
