Schweigert said he's been told that Landry is the projected starter at strong safety. Landry finished last season at free safety after the death of Sean Taylor, with Reed Doughty starting at strong safety. Defensive coordinate Greg Blache said it was too early to say where Landry will line up. "He could start as a free safety or a strong safety," Blache said. "Right now, there's no need to rush into that." Redskins sign Schweigert - USATODAY.com

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin I like stu but i don't think hes worth the player to change Landry to SS when at FS he did better. But its whatever i just want the skins to still have a good D and win games no matter what. |

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin I really think that moving Laron Landry from the FS position would be a huge detriment to this team. Stuart Schweigert, while decent, just can't fly around the field the way I would like and the way I am accustomed to seeing Redskins' free safeties for the past few years. Landry was a monster at the end of the season, no reason for Blache to move him. Schweigert is not nearly good enough to push Landry into the SS role.

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin IF Landry stayed at FS (a move I wouldn't argue w/), do you Schweigert would be the starting SS or do you think that would go to Doughty? It's a great competition, but if they are competing for SS I think it makes the competition a lot more even for Doughty. |

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin Well, apparently no one thinks that Schweigert can play SS so I think he'll have to be relegated to backing up both positions as I don't see what more attractive options there are at SS than Doughty. I really don't believe that Schweigert couldn't play SS in this system, but he'd really have to improve his tackling.

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin I'm sure Stu is a fin gentleman and a fine FS. But putting him back to patrol the field over Landry ? Have you seen the race against Portis ? Nuff said !

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin I think it would be a bad idea to move Schweigert to starting free safety and move Landry to SS again. Landry/Doughty did a great job at FS/SS last year in the wake of ST's passing on and I think they've earned the right to start there this year. I have no idea why Blache called Schweigert a ballhawk, 4 interceptions in 4 years does not scream ballhawk to me, ST had that many in 9 games last year. |

| Re: Stuart Schweigert a Redskin Exactly but once again - Ryan Clark was cut and he was pretty good when he was Skins.. It is the systems that some players are not fit in, let's just hope that Stu is better than we credit him to be.. |
