Amani Toomer has ALWAYS been the biggest pain in the ass to the 'Skins. having Manning throwing it to him makes it worse. better Blitz like crazy and take advantage of their weak line....

Folks, take a deep breath here.

Eli Manning played with the first string against the opposition's first string defense for the first time last nite. He has precious few weapons on his side and still he had a very good showing for a raw rookie.

It was an exhibition game and it means nothing. He is not going to be an All-Pro this year; the Giants will not be in the playoffs this year. He did better than one should expect in a first start - even if it was only an exhibition game.

And by the way, that over-reaction to exhibition game success is hardly unkown here. Can anyone point to any real game sucesses by Sultan McGillicuddy? Some people here are agog at his accomplishments in exhibition games - only they don't point out that he has never done squadoosh when it matters in the NFL. There are a few other examples on this board, but that's not the point.

Don't be afraid to judge what Eli Manning did last night as something much more positive than one would have expected. It does not hurt to acknowledge positive accomplishments for people on other teams. In fact, it actually comes in handy when your team is 5-11; it allows you to point to the successes of other players rather than to the sorry-assed performance of the guys on the 5-11 team...
