| Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated) It's going to be great if we can get 10 point leads into the second half. That was actually a pretty significant problem last year. The pass rusher is sort of like the bullpen in baseball. Having it is always a weapon, but it really earns its pay when the game is being won late.

| Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated) Taylor coming off the left side is exciting. He's used to the right end spot, but the three other QBs in the division are all right handed throwers. Our D has been 9th or better 3 out of the last 4 seasons, and that's with basically no backside QB pressure. Now we get fierce pass rush from both sides. He and AC bookending that line is gonna be fun to watch. This is a great move for us, especially if he plays two seasons. (btw Taylor hasn't missed a start this decade).

| Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated) Well our pass rush certainly has improved with the addition of Taylor. Still, definitely feel bad for Daniels, an underappreciated run-stopping DE whose career may have just ended considering his age; and Buzbee a local kid trying to make it in the league. This isn't a dumb move by any means by the front office, considering the cards they were dealt. But someone will have to step up on the run defense. Evans?

| Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated) Blessing in disguise? How? The guy has been dancing all off season. Plus he wants to only play one more year. This is why you have draft picks waiting in the wings when your 50 year old DE does down. And don't give me any Buzbee talk cause he didn't even see the field last year. He was a practice squad player. I'm talking about a draft pick that can step right in. What about Evans?? You don't see the NYG trading for anyone once Strahan stepped down. That's cause they prepared for his retirement. I think depending on Daniels to make it through another year was a mistake and this trade was a knee jerk reaction. Awful trade. |

That being said, I hope Zorn and Co. use this as an opportunity to explain to the players how critical it is to stay well hydrated, stretch thoroughly, and to properly communicate each and every physical issue that comes up to the doctors/training staff in order to receive proper treatment. Taking care of their bodies is absolutely mandatory. Fluke injuries occur, but you can cut down the likelihood by taking good care of yourself and paying attention to your body.

| Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated) Simple, Jason Taylor is a Pro Bowl caliber player. Phillip Daniels while a solid player was nothing special. We needed this upgrade even before Daniels went down. Now we have two ends who can both get around the corner. I don't see how you can not like this deal considering the circumstances. And there's already been indications that he will play out his 2 years at the least. |

1. Agree that losing Daniels is not a blessing in disguise 2. So he danced, so what? It's not like he got out of shape or has ever come to a season unprepared 3. How do you know a draft pick would be any more prepared to come in than a player who actually has a year of NFL experience, albeit limited, under his belt? 4. How exactly did the Giants prepare for Strahan's retirement? 5. I think labeling this trade awful is...a knee jerk reaction

I also think it's very important to point out (while knocking on wood) that Jason Taylor hasn't missed a game since 1999 (he missed 1 that year), and has only missed 4 his entire career. Not to mention he said Dancing With Stars has his flexibility better than it's ever been. Some nice positives there.

| Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated) Is there really cause for concern about the run defense? I'm sure JT's stats on run stoppage aren't stellar, but that was as a weak-side DE where you don't see much help and you're job is to focus on getting to the QB. I also started to wonder whether it's set in stone that JT will get moved and not AC. Who's the bigger man? AC is listed as 252 on the redskin homepage and JT is listed as 255 elsewhere, but I thought I remembered Andre as heavy as 270 during his career. Maybe I'm way off here.
