Veteran Players

What do you think are the major benefits of veteran players in today's NFL?
also When is it time to let them go and start fresh?

Re: Veteran Players

Well, generally, when teams sign a veteran, the guy has been around long enough to provide a reasonable job at the position in question, without having to worry about awful performance. There are exceptions to this rule (like Lemar Marshall, in 06), but generally, when you go and get somebody with experience, they are more likely to hold their own than a young player would be in the same situation. I guess consistency is the word here: taking the veteran route means you generally are aware of the type of production you are going to get: if the player is available, it's because there are known flaws in his game.
