Re: Who will win the punter battle?

I was laughing at Frost when he hit a good punt last week, ran down the field, decked one of our own guys, then pulled his helmet off on the field (shoulda gotten a 15yd penalty) screaming like he did something. We need consistency in the punting game now more than ever with weapons like Desean Jackson and Adam Jones returning punts in our division. Brooks, Brooks, Brooks. I hope he bombs a few tonight and puts this competition to bed.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

Well they had Brooks punt when we played the Jets... and we open the season at the Meadow Lands, so I think the writing is on the wall. I think they were gearing up Brooks to punt in a tough staduim to punt in. Bye bye Frosty.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

Frankly, I have no clue how anyone has any faith in Frost. We've given the man years to get his game together and each year he's sub-par. Brooks might not be better than Frost right now, but I'd rather gamble on him than stick with Frost. I truly, honestly believe that we will very much regret keeping Frost and junking Brooks....but that is exactly what I think we're going to do.

Danny Smith is going to choose Brooks. Consistency is the keyword.

I think Frost has out punted Brooks int he preseason, but I am not sure that the coaching staff has any faith in Frost.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

It has to be Brooks, his punts actually have hang time, allowing our team to run down the field and stopping the returner. I remember seeing back to back Frost/Brook punts...Frost's punt was long but it was a line drive, little hang time and the returner had a long return, whereas Brooks' punt (though short) had enought hang time to allow the special teams to get to the ball carrier.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

i was at the game, and while the yardage is close, brooks launches moonshots while frost outpunts his coverage with line drives.

neither were terrible, but the hang time difference was ridiculous.

brooks for me.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

Frost is a fraud. If we cut him he will never play another regular season game in the NFL. If we keep him I will lose all faith in Danny Smith. Line drive punts are not at all useful.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

It has been a evenly matched pre-season, but the picture is much bigger than just that. I think Brooks will ultimately get the nod.

Yes I heard him say that but as soon as the season starts Frost will go back to his old ways!

Well said......now if we could find a west coast QB and some WR's along with a younger line we would be set!
