| Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions It's one thing when we get no respect from national media outlets, you kind of expect that, but for the few Skins fans here that are saying how the Cardinals are going to give us a run, (of course anything can happen, but we are talking expectations based on reality not fluky events) I can't understand it. I think when the season gets where teams really can be evaluated for this season's play, the loss to the Giants is going to be looked at in the same light the Eagles/Cowboys game is already... A battle of NFC EAST power. Eagles Cowboys was an offensive show, and the Skins/Giants a defensive one. I just won't believe that any team outside our division will come close to the Skins(maybe Pittsburgh we will see on that one) . We held the Saints vaunted offense to a pitiful first half, yes our offense didn't capitalize right away but we all have said this year that the D has to hold the fort first so the offense can find a rhythm and that is what happened. My one concern is that we weren't playing against there first string D in the 4th qtr, and so this Arizona game holds alot of interest to see how the offense can carry it's lessons forward. The team answered the call last week, and they will do it again this week, and this time there won't be a doubt of which was the better team. My prediction was 24-17 Skins which is close, but i dont think the statistics will be close, the Cards will just hit one or two lucky strikes. i guess this rambled a bit, point is Skins are going to demonstrate they are for real this week! | Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions 73-2. Wow. If the Redskins lose this game to a team that's just as good if not better than the Skins, it's going to be fire Zorn, fire Campbell, cut Moss, demote Portis threads galore.

Remember all the threads here when we lost by nine points? If we win this game, people will think they know something. If we lose it, we'll all start scapegoating people for losing to the Cardinals when we should be looking ourselves in the mirror for underestimating the opponent. I'm optimistic that we'll come out on top, but I'm not particularly confident in that. If we don't continue to improve over last week, we lose, plain and simple.

| Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions Warner could hurt us if he has time. With that said, I don't think he'll have much time at all with Taylor and Carter. I keep hearing how "improved" the Cards D is this year. My reaction to that is 1.) look at who they've played so far and 2.) of course their D is improved. They haven't exactly been a powerhouse over the last say...80+ years (or however old they are). ANYTHING is an improvement! My prediction? PAIN! (Clubber Lang, Rocky III). Skins 31 Cards 21

| Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions Reality check: We are 3 point favorites at home. Traditionally home field advantage is 3 points so the oddsmakers expect this to be a pick 'em. Kurt Warner is one of the most accurate passers of all time (a 7-time offensive player of the week including last week and 2-time MVP). Fitzgerald and Boldin are two of the best wr's in the league right now (both have scored from over 75 yards). Not to mention they also have very inventive playcalling and a good O-Line.They have a young but very talented defense (Alan Branch, Calais Campbell who I still wish we would have drafted, Karlos Dansby, Bertrand Berry, Travis LaBoy, Darnell Dockett, etc..) They took huge strides last year and they will probably win the West this season (for what that's worth, it's a pretty week division). This is not the Cardinals of old and they will not be an easy win. I think the Skins will win but not by much. This is one of those weeks we need a Gibbs speech about how "this is a tough opponent and we need to really play our guts out." BTW, did anybody else notice that not only are Russ Grimm and Ken Wisenhut on the Cards staff, but their QB coach is Jeff Rutledge?

Are you saying that every home favorite that is at less then 3pts is the underdog???? I must have missed the new math lesson that day. Further, I believe Fedex to be a better than average home field, so from now on, I guess if we are favored by 5 at home, it is really a pick' em game. and in the playoff home games, when the stadium is rocking, we must be underdogs if we aren't favored by 10. | |

I'd also like to point out that I did pick the Redskins to win...see Post #16 (Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions)...something I haven't done the last 2 weeks. If I'm wrong, so be it...but I'm going to be honest before I'm a homer, plain and simple. So call me what you want, but I've bled burgundy and gold for almost 30 years of my existence, have been through the ups and downs, and will continue to do so for the next 30, 40, 50+ years. But I'm not going to be dishonest with myself either.

| Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions I do understand the concept of home teams getting a bump, but to turn around and say that therefore it is a pick'em game is wrong. and as for defending not being a homer, we have all watched the past 17 years of Skins not living up to hopes and expectations, but homerism is picking the 1-10 dolphins to beat the 11 -0 patriots because you are a dolphin fan (i might have the stats wrong but just an example) but saying that a team that really outplayed a vaunted offense and played the superbowl champs close, if ugly, will soundly beat a team that beat 2 teams likely to have losing records, is not, in my opinion the same type of homerism. but hey, i am a homer so i guess my opinion is null and void. |
