| Re: Snyder's Possible Head Coach Smokescreen i don't think snyder would tank the team for a year waiting on cowher - he's just another coach, not a god. I mean, before that SB win, plenty of people wanted him fired too. zorn interviewed REALLY well - all you need to do is watch his pressers to see what they probably saw. he's honest, he's smart, he understands the game, and he's been preparing for this for years.

| Re: Snyder's Possible Head Coach Smokescreen I was afraid that the Zorn hire was a temporary fix waiting for Cowher. Honestly noone woulda picked Zorn over atleast 10 other possibilities. I'm very pleased at Zorn's showing so far, but there is a lot of football left this season. I'm very proud to have Jim Zorn coaching the Washington Redskins! Couldn't say that about Steve Spurrier.

| Re: Snyder's Possible Head Coach Smokescreen I think Snyder hired Zorn because that's who Jimm Fassel wanted. But then when it leaked out and the fans were on the verge of a massive riot which would have ended with the beheading of Snyder he knew he needed to look else where. I don't think he had any intention of looking in house until Zorn kicked in his door one morning and said to Danny, ""We're no strangers to love. You know the rules and so do I. A full commitment's what I'm thinking of, you wouldn't get this from any other guy. I just gotta tell you what I'm feeling... gotta make you understand. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. We've known each other for so long, your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it. Inside we both know what's been going on, we know the rules and we're gonna play it. And if you ask me how I'm feeling, don't tell me you're too blind to see" And the rest, my friends, is history. Now, thank you to JGisLordOfTheRings for 'letting' me steal your bit. Thanks to htownskinfan for reminding me of said bit (and my great idea for a Halloween custom that no one will get). And thanks to Redskin Warrior who taught me that all my English teachers were wrong - paragraphs are for suckers and commies!

| Re: Snyder's Possible Head Coach Smokescreen Wow Snyder makes a great choice in picking his coach and you sume it up as pure luck. Do you also write for Sally Jenkins on the side? |

I doubt that Snyder hired Zorn just to buy a year until Cowher was ready for a couple of reasons. 1) Snyder is actually a fan of the team and I think he wants to see them do well, even if that means hiring a complete nobody who just happens to know how to win in the NFL. 2) If he did want Cowher next year wouldn't it make more sense to hire a short term coach who's ideas and schemes match Cowhers more closely? Why go from Al Saunders offense, to the West Coast, then back to a power running game/ball control scheme? If you did that you'd not only be throwing away this year, but you'd likely be throwing away the first year under Cowher while he gets everything in place. 3) Who's to say Cowher would actually come here next year, especially after it becomes clear that Snyder just goes through head coaches like they're nothing. (this one is hypothetical, assuming that Snyder were to fire Zorn after a year) 4) WWRAD? (What Would Rick Astley Do?)

| Re: Snyder's Possible Head Coach Smokescreen i think they hired zorn as the offensive coordinator because they were absolutely blown away in the interview but it was just too risky to make him a head coach because he had no experience as a coordinator. when there continued search yielded no candidates that impressed them they said in laymens terms what the hell lets give him a shot at the top spot. if they had hired a top candidate and failed it would have just been a failed attempt and they would have moved on, but with zorn if he had failed miserably it would have been another snyder mistake and snyders image with the media and fans would have taken another hit, and I believe that snyder is at least a little worried about having an al davis type image with the fans and media which i believe made him a little gun shy in pulling the trigger on a coach that impressed him very much. |

| Re: Snyder's Possible Head Coach Smokescreen Wow. I've heard of tinfoil hats, but never saw a tinfoil football helmet before. Don't be loony. Leave that to the Oakland fans.
