Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins

I'm just a little surprised at this move. Because Torrence certainly isn't very much, ok teamer/bottom barrel corner. But he was serviceable now.

With that said. That is more than I can say for Tyron (Which I don't ever think will be any good) or Kelly standing on the sidelines with street cloths on.

I have never been a fan of Torrence for the record.

I don't think this move has any effect on anything, in the locker room or on the field. Thats why they brought in Hall.

Now we need a WR to replace Kelly and/or knows how to play football better than Thomas, for the stretch run. Both these kids might be ok down the road but we are getting no production out of Kelly and little to none out of Thomas.

HALL WANTED TO FIGHT A FALCON LAST WEEK
Posted by Mike Florio on November 8, 2008, 11:24 a.m.

At halftime of last weeks game between the Falcons and the Raiders, former Falcons (and also former Raiders but now current Redskins) cornerback DeAngelo Hall waited for a member of the Falcons.

For the purposes of fighting him.

Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking recently mentioned the incident during a spot with Buck and Kincade on 680 The Fan in Atlanta. Heres what Brooking said, without naming the former teammate in question.

One of our ex-players, sitting there in the tunnel, waiting on us to come through the halftime to pick a fight with one of my teammates, Brooking said. Im just sitting there as Im going to the locker room thinking, Geez, man, I mean, Im so glad were removed from all that mess. You know, because of the camaraderie that we have as a team from a players standpoint, the relationships weve developed with our coaches. I mean, its a great working relationship.

We dont know which player Hall wanted to thump (or, as the case may be, get thumped by) or why he wanted to attempt some thumping, but its a sign that Hall has a long way to go before hell persuade the Redskins to give him a long-term deal.

Then again, maybe he is changing. Consider this quote from a Friday appearance on Sirius NFL Radio with Bruce Murray and Carl Banks. When asked how bad things are in Oakland, Hall said this: Im still a firm believer in theyre really not that bad. It was definitely unfortunate the way things worked out for me but I still dont think its a bad place. I still think theyre going to somehow get it turned around. Ive got a lot of respect for Al Davis. He talked to me like a man, told me I was the last one to come so Im the first one to go. And I respect that. Gave me the opportunity to go where I wanted to go and thats all I can ask for.
I say we offer Michael Westbrook a contract just to keep this guy in check.

To be short and sweet to avoid jacking this thread, Stephen Davis said something about him being gay or acting gay and got his face punched in.

Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins

I think this is a great deal and a win-win situation for all parties involved.

- The Redskins get depth at the CB position, getting a talented DB for a fairly cheap $$
- Hall gets the chance to prove himself in the NFL's toughest conference
- If Hall works out, we can consider keeping him; if he leaves for bigger $$ we get a compensatory pick
- If Hall doesn't work out, he's still an improvement over Torrence or Tryon
- Low investment, low risk, high rewards if things work out

I think people forget the old Redskins that would have signed (or re-signed) the likes of JT, Alexander, and D. Hall for big money. We have taken advantage of situations in which we have gotten talented players for cheap, with low risk involved.

Although we sit at 6-3, the team needed to do something different that would hopefully change something within the team to help us overcome these mediocre showings against bad teams and poor showings against the Steelers and NY Giants. Hopefully rest will help with our injuries, and acquiring Hall gives us a stronger defense.

Does anyone know if Hall can field punts? If so, we should give the guy a chance to return punts as well.
