Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

Let's see...

- Our team is at an unexpected 6-3
- The team's top two offensive weapons maybe out this Sunday
- We have a crucial game against a hated opponent
- The defense acquired a possibly very good player for cheap

Yet fans are concerned about what an ex-player said about an ex-coach? Man, you'd think this is the preseason or something like that to give five pages to this thread.

I don't see how this is any worse than 5 pages on the release of our 4th string CB.

I'm kinda surprised he gave up football at such an early age. No doubt he had a flare for the boneheaded move, but if he had taken the 2007 off to heal from his motorcycle injury, someone would be employing him right now.

LOL..,no they would not.

I think LA is crying sour grapes but I do think there is a grain of truth in what he says about Gibbs coming back for the $ for his NASCAR team.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

LaVar kind of reappeared on the scene here in DC at Sean Taylor's funeral. If you recall, LaVar spoke of rebuilding bridges that had been burned during his divorce from the team. He said all of this with tears in his eyes (which I felt were fake). I never heard where he was close to Sean like the other speakers at his funeral; it just felt weird to me that he was even speaking at all up there. He spoke vaguely and in generalities, not specifics, about his relationship with Sean. I just felt that his entire "speech" was a sham and a fraud. It felt to me like it was a desperate attempt to grab attention by someone who had fallen out of the spotlight.

I feel that this latest episode is an extension of that. He's trying to make himself relevant when he knows he no longer is. The same thing with the restaurant. "If I build a huge restaurant and put my name on it, everyone will want to come here and be my friend." IMO, he has issues; probably in much the same way most NFL players do (at some level), but LaVar has manifested his in a disgusting fashion thus far.

I don't believe that at all. JG's NASCAR team has made Joe Gibbs a very very wealthy man. He makes more with NASCAR than he ever did with football. Even with the $5.5million salary he pulled with the Skins from 04-07.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

The thought that Gibbs came back for the money is pure BS.

At his age he didn't need to come back to 18 hour days and the stress and pressure that comes along with running a NFL team for a paycheck. The thought of that just goes against everything the man is about.

And where would you find that grain? Do you have any evidence that JGR was in need of cash?

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

Arrington is an idiot.

Gibbs is high class, always has been, always will be.

Lavar is confusing courage and testosterone.
Gibbs is filled with courage, Lavar is only filled with testosterone.
Only one of these fades with age.

Grow up Lavar....you just weren't that great....and, you sucked at taking coaching, which explains why you were often out of position....that spells A-R-R-O-G-A-N-C-E.

Gibbs doesn't like arrogant, uncoachable players, I'd cut you too unless you'd take situational pass rusher money....which you didn't!

I used to listen to Lavar, now I have lost all respect for anything that comes out of your mouth...you IDIOT!!!

And this is 5 pages because calling Gibbs a Coward by an ex SKIN is BETRAYAL and completely bogus.

Gibbs is the best coach the Skins ever had.
He had nothing to gain and everything to lose to come back...yet he risked his good name to bring respectability back to the Skins....that is certainly not what a coward would do.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

I recall reading in various publications that Gibbs racing wasnt going broke by any means but it wasnt a cash cow either. Racing is a very expensive sport and Snyder made Gibbs an offer he couldnt refuse.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think that the only reason Gibbs came back was to get $ for his race team but I do think the $ was a major factor in his return to coaching.

As for LA, I agree with cpayne. This is LA trying to get himself back in the media and make himself somehow relevant again. He does have issues some of which hurt him in becoming the great LB that we all thought he would be.

I think you just nailed the source of the bitterness here.

At least Holdman did what his coaches said to do...Arrington did not play within the scheme and couldn't be trusted on the field.
