And, since Zorn himself has stated that he is a Christian, then from the evidence I have seen, he a good man, and appears to be a good Christian man. I'm not going to get into a religious debate, because I think you're doing nothing more than trying to hijack a perfectly good thread. However, I will just say this and I am not going to speak of it again. As a Christian, there are values taught to us that we must live by. Very tough values that may or may not always be taught in the secular world. And by observing what Jim Zorn has been going through, it takes clinging to those Christian values to keep your sanity and to keep your wits about yourself. Despite how Zorn has been treated, I am surprised he hasn't given up and called Vinny and Dan every name in the book. It's a strong willed man to not break down, and I respect Jim Zorn for that.

As a head coach, he is obviously not head coach material just yet. He needs time to develop as a play caller before he ever moves up the latter again. But, the way he has carried himself, although at times appears to be kind of a "golly gee" type of personality, he has that likable personality. I can't help but to like the guy and root for him. Certainly if all possible I wouldn't want him to fail in Washington, but it's obvious even if the Redskins start winning again and win the rest of the games of this season, Zorn probably wouldn't get any credit for it (would be all given to the bingo caller!)
Oh and let me guess you have one black friend one asian friend one gay friend etc...you know just in case someone questions you about it. I have heard it before.

Dude, I don't know what your problem is, but you need to ditch the attitude and act like you have some sense. You don't know a thing about me. I don't know a thing about you. If you're man enough to shut your trap then I'm man enough to let it go.

The point of this thread is to give Zorn some appreciation, not to be so sensitive because I called him a Christian. Wow, that's just ridiculous!

Now that was not very Christian like.

My response to the title: NO!

I'm convinced that success in this league is all about schemes and coaching. Just look at the broncos. Looking at their front 7 coming into the season, they without a doubt had the worst defense in football. Most of their starters were all crappy backups for other teams. Look at where they are now with Mcdaniels and Nolan. Enough said.

On a completely different note...

Does anyone ever believe that writing "enough said" or "nuff said" or "thread closed" is going to end the discussion? Or that no one else can add more to the thread after their amazing point?

Not trying to single you at Skinster, just always wondered about that style comment.

We all know that the playcalling has been one of the many problems but I also like what this article says, if you haven't seen it, about the execution of the plays being the problem not the "play calling"

In answer to your question - Yes. Case Closed!

The funny thing is, when the plays are executed perfectly, no one complains about the play calling even though the play calling may not be a perfect balance of run VS pass. I remember several years ago, maybe back in the Norv Turner days, the Tampa Bay Bucs kept running the same running play up the middle, over and over again against us. Why? Because it worked each and every time. My point is, when the execution is not there, then the play calling is at fault. Now, I'm not saying Zorn's play calling has been great, because he has called some plays that I thought were not the right plays to call at that particular time. But, last year Zorn looked to be brilliant because
the execution was there.

So, do we still put the blame on the coach at that point or is it the player's fault?

Good coaches get players to execute plays well.

Fair enough and I agree with you. Like I said before, Jim Zorn is not head coach material at this point, but I do think he has backing of the players in the locker room.

Re: Let's Give Jim Zorn Some Love!

Let me ask this....I thought Zorn only had 2 yrs. Somewhere I thought I read he had this yr and one more yr? Which would be a third yr. If so.....Since DS doesn't want to cut Zorn cause he would have to pay him ....could DS demote him to QB coach and bring in a new GM and HC? and if Zorn doesn't like it he can leave?

Re: Let's Give Jim Zorn Some Love!

Obviously, it depends on the contract. The language I have heard is "3 years guarranteed" and I am betting that it specifies the guarranteed position as being head coach. I doubt there is a clause that says something like "you forfeit the guarrantee if you refuse to be demoted." As long as Zorn neither quits the HC position or acts in breach of his k, DS is going to owe him a 3rd year.

If you're asking would JZ agree to be demoted and stay with the team so that a new HC could be brought in, I seriously doubt he would agree to that. I sure as hell wouldn't.
