Elway without Shanahan 105-66-1 .613%. Clearly, Shanahan was the reason Elway overcame his humps. The argument could easily be made that Shanahan made Elway, not the other way around. I doubt it's a coincidence that Shanahan got Elway 2 SB rings, when Elway had those great teams of the past and couldn't do it.[/QUOTE] HAHA, maybe I just didnt say it right, but thats what I was trying to say!!

| Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged I think Allen is qualified to be a GM. We're getting a guy that really knows football. That's something that this organization hasn't had in a long time. |

| Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged MSchottenheimer on Sirius: "Dan is not a meddlesome owner" , lambasts VC, "Dan will often time listen to the wrong people". Agreed that this is a good time to make the change. "Hard for me to speculate on [HC decision]", lots of praise for BA. "At this juncture, I think it is an excellent choice" "this would be a example of DS listening to the right voice" "right now in my mind these two decisions represent a quantum step forward, because DS recognized he wasn't getting what he deserved from the FO" A lot of good thoughts. I typed as I was listening so hope it makes sense. |

I think Bruce Allen is an excellent choice. He's built winners in two places, he has ties to the area and the skins, and he's fairly young. I think DS did very well. Shanahan is a winner folks. You can't do alot better than him. Gruden is a winner too. I'm happy w/ either of the two. Hell, i'd be happy hiring a young guy like Brian S or Kyle S. It's a good day for Skins fans. | |

| Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged Rick Stroud (from the St. Petersburg Times) was just interviewed on ESPN980 and reiterated what Smoot said earlier - Allen is a great administrator and contract guy, and thats all he's good at. The coach won't work FOR him, but rather WITH him. Some other of Ricks feelings on him: 1. He's a yes-man. He always did whatever Gruden and the owner wanted. So don't expect Snyder's level of involvement to be reduced. 2. The reason Tampa Bay's drafts from 2004 to 2007 were so bad because Allen and Gruden made all draft decisions "in a vacuum" - If Gruden wanted a player, Allen would agree with him, and they would select the player, regardless of what the scouting department recommended. 3. He and Gruden both like veteran players and value them over draft picks. I didn't like the Allen hiring and i like it even less now. Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but he's Vinny 2.0. Nothing's really changed. Either one of two things will happen now: 1) We'll hire Gruden or a no-name coach and Snyder will still pull all the strings OR 2) We'll hire Shanahan and He'll have total authority over our offense. Snyder will step down and Allen will just be a puppet for Shannahan. In either case, the one thing that this organization needs isn't going to happen - We won't have a "real" GM with full authority to make football decisions.

| Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged I think there could still be Shanahan type figure, who has absolute control, and Allen would be the figure-head.
