Re: Can We Draft as High as 3rd Overall?

Who was it that kept saying that head to head record doesn't matter in determining draft order? Head to head record is always the first thing in determining any tiebreaker as far as I know, why would it be any different in regards to draft order? But seriously though, on that draft value chart, that's a big difference between the top five picks in the draft. That could really help us if a team wanted to try and trade into the top five if a player they really want was available there.

A real sleeper could be Rolando McClain

But I haven't really heard any names being mentioned yet. Last year at this time I heard a lot of Brian Cushing...who, of course, wasn't the pick
I would love to get McClain or Brandon Spikes. I think 4th overall is way to high for either of them.

We know Detroit and Tampa aren't going QB with #2 or #3. I'm not sure if there's a QB worth #1, and with Spags running the show, I could see him taking either Berry or Suh. If it plays out like that, we'd have our choice of any QB.

I'd still rather move out of the 4th pick if possible and land a QB in the 2nd all the while adding picks. If we're 4th and Okung is there, gotta take him.

The Senior Bowl is right around the corner. Guys are gonna drop and rise. It's gonna be a wild offseason for Redskins fans.

Head to head doesn't matter as much as strength of schedule when it comes to draft order. The league feels it's a better indicator

Just curious as to how far we could trade down and still be able to select Bradford?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I can kinda see why that is but I always thought in past offseasons that head to head was the #1 tiebreaker for some reason.

I was consulting the draft pick value chart and the 4th pick is worth 1800 points. That's pretty good value because if the right team came along we could possibly get 2 first rounders out of that deal. According to the chart, the first pick is 3000 points, 2nd is 2600, 3rd is 2200, and 4th is 1800, whereas the fifth is only 1700, which means the difference between the 4th and the 5th would be the 4th pick of the fourth round, which is 100 points.

Also if we were interested in trading players along with draft picks there's infinite possibilities. Lets say for make believe purposes the Seahawks want Campbell as their qb, and Shanny decides he wants Bradford. Well, according to the picks the Seahawks have, which are the 6th (1600 points) and the 16th assuming that's what the Broncos pick is (1000 points), they could trade us both of those for the 4th pick and Campbell, assuming they value him as worthy of 800 points of draft value. So my only point out of all this is that we could have some serious trade bait in the instance we decide to go that route. Should be an interesting offseason this year.

Just in case anybody else wants to explore possible draft pick trade scenarios and formulate their own theories about possible trades, here's the draft pick value chart. I could go further in depth with this but I think it's illogical considering how much trading of draft picks goes on before and during the draft. Anything could happen with any of the picks, and I've seen crazier stuff happen to believe that anything's possible. At least if we decide to trade down not only will we have pretty decent ammunition draft picks wise, but we might also try to get rid of some players as well.

Re: Can We Draft as High as 3rd Overall?

This years draft dosen't seem to have the elite players that I have seen in years past. I think if you don't get Suh or Berry, then being in the top 5 dosen't even matter... that's just me though

I don't have a link but ESPN just had it on sportscenter.. I would say Bradford is the guy simply because STL will draft SUE and the other 2 teams won't draft a QB. (DET, TB)
It's not set and stone they will select Suh they already pick that DE/DT Adam Carriker & DE Chris Long in the previous years they need a franchise QB. If he is worth drafting after the combine & his pro day then Bradford will mostly likely go #1 to the Rams. I still think that the Jimmy is a late 1st round pick and that might be the way to go or Pike in the 2nd round.

Word on the street is that Shannahan likes Bradford better. What makes you think he would choose Clausen over Bradford if both were available at 4?

My only regret is that this quote is from PFT:
Quote:
From the same sources that the rumblings of Shanahan-to-the-'Skins have been emanating for months comes word that the Redskins and Mike Shanahan will target Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford with Washington's first-round pick in the draft.
This is from the ESPN rumor section:
Quote:
The Redskins could pick as high as No. 5. One player they are likely looking at is Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, who was projected to be the No. 1 pick last season before he decided to go back to school. According to Scouts, Inc.'s Todd McShay's mock draft, the Redskins will nab Bradford with the No. 7 pick. Also available at the top of the first round is Jimmy Clausen. At the top of the second round, they may also have a shot at Tony Pike.
Keep in mind I'm not saying you're wrong. You could very well be right but right now all arrows are pointing towards the team targeting Bradford.

Isnt Okung the logical choice for us? Not glamorous, but we need a young anchor.

I certainly think so. IMO he could do a great job for the next 10 years.

If Bradford shows anything in the upcoming combines, the Rams are sure to take him. They need a quarterback in a bad sorta way.

ESPN is scrolling that stupid "rumor" on their mock draft on the bottom of the screen to promote their ridiculous mock draft. These "arrows" must be incompetent ESPN writers.

If we draft Bradford instead of a lineman, next year could be worse than this season. I think Bruce Allen is smarter than that. Besides, JC should have really impressed him yesterday.
