Re: the great Joe Bugel

I read about Buges retiring in the wash post & the franchise wanting to do something for him. I wish he was leaving under better circumstances, but it really may be time for him to go if for no other reason than getting a fresh start for the new staff & letting him walk away before dealing w/any more drama.

Great coach & a face of the franchise over the years. How many o line coaches have had his level of notoriety? Alex Gibbs is the only other one I can name.

Buges will always be a redskin. I look forward to seeing him in the middle of fedex field before a standing ovation in the near future. Hopefully it will be in the midst of better times for him & our Skins.

Buges had head coaching stops in Arizona and Oakland, but he will always be remembered as a True Redskin and perhaps the greatest O-line coach ever.

Can't say it better than this. If your time is up, Buges...thanks for the incredible memories and Lombardis.

Nobody was better on channel 4 on Monday evening with Sonny & George than Bugel. I hope he has a great retirement.

Buges will always be appreciated but no longer is the top of his game. Back in the game loyalty was a great vurtue which has helped Buges be the icon of the NFL when it comes to Offensive line play!
Today with free agency it holds him back a little!

All that said Buges is a Beast!
He is up there with Joe Gibbs!

Good luck to you in retierment! Thanks for what you have done for the Redskins in the past.

I think the team is planning a tribute to Buges but they don't want it to be overshadowed by the announcement of the new head coach. Look for something on him soon.

He and Jim Hanifan were the best to coach the o-lines here in recent times. Best of luck to him in retirement, time to go home to the wife.

Re: the great Joe Bugel

Just like Zorn will be remembered for his trick play on the Monday night game, Joe Bugel will be remembered as the architect of the hogs (perhaps the best OL of all time) Bugel reminds me of Burgess Meredith's character on Rocky (Micky) a tough old bird that you don't fuck with. Thanks for all the great memories and service to the team.

Re: the great Joe Bugel

So, have we heard anything specific about his retirement? or GB's? Seems like this all came up yesterday, but nothing more official has been said.

Re: the great Joe Bugel

I wonder why they haven't announced the retiring. The team is obviously going to do something special for him, but why not announce something??

Re: the great Joe Bugel

A good man and a good OL coach - - whose "fame" is based on the fact that he was the coach of an offensive line that had 3 and maybe 4 Hall of Fame players on it during his time as the coach. Let me be as kind as I can here:

It would be really hard to f*ck up that kind of talent. Richie Kotite may have been able to make that unit into one that should be remembered for decades after it was off the field.

It's time to smell the roses, Coach. There aren't any OL here now who will ever get into the HoF without buying a ticket just like all the rest of us ordinary folks.
