I don't think you can justify putting Brett Favre's shoulder or Peterson's knee at risk at that point, regardless of what the Cowboys are doing.
I guess there are good arguments on both sides. My only problem with the "injury" argument is that players risk getting injured running out that tunnel, so I don't think you can coach with the mentality. Also, it's not like the Vikings were at the 50 yard line and could have punted the ball. What we're really quibbling over is four points. That's it. The difference betwen a touchdown and a field goal.

So you're telling me the Cowboys would have been less offended had the Vikings made a field goal instead of sticking it in the end zone? That just sounds ridiculous.

Once the game is won (i.e., up by 3 scores with 3 minutes left), call off the dogs.

I agree, pulling your players is the smart thing to do and I would do it but I'm not going to fault someone else for trying to score. They have every right to do what they did.

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams

It's not the failure for people to see my side for running up the score that gets to me. First off, I just hate the Cowboys and I took great pleasure in watching Keith Brooking make an ass of himself by complaining.

It's the double standard that exists here and throughout professional sports that upsets me the most. Take Brooking for example. He's on the sideline doing his pre-game ritual taunting the Vikings and their staff, disrespecting the home crowd, and drawing attention to himself. Throughout the course of the game players on both sides continue to taunt, talk trash, fight, late hits, fask mask, leg whips, whatever it takes to get the edge. Their competitive juices kick in and overflow. I get that. But now that we're down to the final two minutes of the game, now all of sudden we're trying to define "class" and what's inappropriate? Are you kidding me? After nearly sixty minutes of talking shit and trying to pulverize the guy in the purple jersey, now it's time to be gentlemen and show some sportsmanship?

Either do away with all of it or stop drawing these little convenient lines defining what's acceptable and what's not. It's the double standard that burns me up.

Again - "classiest" thing in the world to do? No. Most classless act by a professional football team? No. Something reasonable given all the circumstances? Yup.

As 12th pointed out, its not like they had been running it up during the entire 4th quarter pouring it on after the Cowboys made it clear they were say "no mas". Up until the drive before the Cowboys were attempting to score. The Vikes were on the 10 and took a shot in the end zone. BFD. It clearly made the point as the cowboys didn't even pass on their next possession but called 2 or 3 running plays to run out the clock.

Wow, you must be really starved for your fanhood. If your team cannot play well enough to satisfy your fandom that you have to take pleasure in a rival team losing a playoff game, then, I pity you.

Gotta ask, who do you root harder for? The Redskins when they play? Or any team playing the Cowboys? If your answer is the later, then your fanhood is in real question. As it would seem that you would take more pleasure in seeing a certain team lose, more than seeing the Redskins win.

And to even mention the words "humiliation, ineptitude and failure", your kidding right?

Redskins resume'
36-44 in the last 5 years (.450)
1 season in the last 9 years with double digit wins
0 division championships in the past 9 years
2 playoff appearances in 10 years
1 playoff win in 10 years

You wanna talk "humiliation, ineptitude and failure", look no further than Landover.

Wade Phillips....lets see 3 years in Dallas:
33-15 regular season record (.686)
2 division championships in 3 years
2 playoff appearances in 3 years
1 playoff win in 3 years.

Lost in Divisonal round in each playoff year. Thats 1 game away from the confernce championship if I am not mistaken.

YOU WISH any Washington coach in the last decade had that on thier resume'.

Charlie Waters - 41 even met him once, got an autograph. Had dinner with Tony Dorsett.

Every team that does well has a certain number of bandwagoners. Like you for instance, you jumped on that Vikings bandwagon simply because of who they were playing. So whose bandwagon are you on this week? Saints? Jets?

(No one knows if the Redskins have bandwagon fans, like I said, "teams that do well".)

As for you handful of Dallas fans that like to practice voyeurism on our Redskin website, how can you expect any of us to behave otherwise?? Are you that braindead to think that we wouldn't bask in the totality of your constant failure? Take the pounding. It's good for ya.
Well if a winning teams playoff loss in the divisional round takes your mind off of what your players, owner, a venerable BEVY of coaches, has done for the fan base for the past DECADE, well then I am happy for you.

I got news for you Sandy, 'round these parts hating the Cowboys is a big part of our fanhood. In fact, it's mandatory. It's like taking the SAT, LSAT, or GMAT. You don't go to the next level as a Redskins fan until you've displayed, consistently, sufficient hate and vitriol for the ugliest, slimmiest, scummiest, sorriest (those are 12th words) team on the planet. Don't get it twisted. We love to hate the Cowboys and ain't nothing wrong with that.

You just don't get it, when the Redskins are playing we root for them. When Dallas is playing we root for opponent. It's quite simple.

Did you have dinner with Swade Phillips?? Who ate the most? Did you go down on Tony Dorsett before or after dinner?

Good point. Its not like Favre and the vikes were on their own 30 and just being asses. They were in easy scoring range. Really, pulling Favre and other key players out of the game (as many have suggested is what should have been done) and playing conservatively could have had the reduced the "momentum" the vikings carry going to New Orleans next week. Pulling starters out in a playoff game could also have "insulted" the cowboys even more. Favre was barely pressured all game. if i'm not mistaken, he's got the longest consecutive starting streak in NFL history. The chances of him getting hurt by staying in the game were minimal.

it amazes me how people will criticize the colts for sitting starters in "meanless" games and then criticize a team for doing the opposite in a game that actually meant something. this is the playoffs. the cardinals-packers game aside, every other playoff game this season has been boring and borderline unwatchable - atleast the vikings kept things interesting, even in the final minutes.

you also have to remember that this is very likely favre's final season in the NFL. its entirely possible that sunday was his last victory as well. why not let the man enjoy it?

and for those saying favre has no class or respect, dont forget he essentially fell down on purpose so a certain someone could get the all time sack record. Favre, like Manning, has an incredible level of respect and appreciation for the game. If he felt it were unsportsmanlike to keep

I am shocked with how many around here talk about the Cowboys post season when the DeadSkins have done even less. Seriously going 20 years back only two division titles. After the Skins last superbowl I think you are tied with Dallas after their last won with just two playoff wins. I guess our teams could be the Cincy who is in a real drought.
and you guys were last in one in 95.. 4 years diff still going back 14 years.. you were probably still playing with barbies or getting touched by your uncle back then

Despite that resume, Jerry Jones would have fired him at the drop of a hat had they lost to Philadelphia.

lol werd

it's classless because on paper it would've looked like a closer game if they would've stopped trying? LOL.. you're going to have your starters in the full game eventually and score every single time that you can.. like I mentioned.. in-game experience is the best time to practice it.. it's the Cowboys fault that they made it look like a drill and not a battle

So your opinion stands for all fans? I've stated on this board several times that I had no problem with the Patriots doing that. Speak for yourself.
