And excuse me if I am not a dumbass like you who gets excited for any big name coach that comes in...wasn't Spurrier supposed to turn us around? Gibbs? How did those work out exactly?

Man when you guys post together I get confused. I think it's the G combined with the upper cased second letters. I can imagine it would be similar to people seeing me and dirthogs311 posting one after the other.

Anyway thanks for the props on the Inner Pirate Tripp, was hoping someone would pick that up.

I like Allen's comments. He's tempering expectations and realistically approaching the rebuild process. I think he thinks we can be good in two years...I think he's right

Re: RI: Allen: 'We're going 100 mph getting ready for free agency'

1st off, this isnt a popularity contest, and in this day and age of free agency and such, ANYTHING is possible. Ever thought ud see Favre in a jets jersey? or Vikings jersey? Deion Sanders was popular everywhere he went. Bruce Smith in a redskins jersey? Those are my points against why we wouldnt trade him because he's "popular". But my opinion is we WILL NOT trade him. He is still in his prime and i doubt any offers we get will benefit us more than having cooley on the field next year. No one is gonna sacrifice that much for him

Possible Stopgap at Tackle

Where will Tra Thomas play?
10:34
AM ET
Tra Thomas | Jaguars Top Email

Over the weekend, word emerged from the Florida Times-Union that the Jacksonville Jaguars wouldn't retain Torry Holt and Tra Thomas, and both vets would be free to start exploring other options. The move is expected to be made Monday.

Although there's already been speculation on where Holt might wind up, the market for Thomas might be a little drier. However, several teams are currently hoping to bolster their bookend linemen through the draft, and even if they get a nice option in April, Thomas could come in as a swing backup and also provide some veteran guidance off the field. Teams that fall into that category include the 49ers, Bills, Redskins and Chiefs.

Quote:
Comment: Thomas is an 11-year veteran who is 34 years old. He is an extremely durable player who has been a mainstay at LT for the Eagles his entire career. He has excellent size with long arms and good hand use. He does a good job of sealing off angles in the run game. He is a tall LT who tends to be upright on contact, but can position himself quickly out of his stance and lock down defenders with his hands. He has some trouble making reach blocks or climbing to secure the block in space at the second level, but he gives good effort. In pass protection his foot quickness is descending. He has a long reach to push defenders past the pocket, if he can't mirror the rush all the way up field. He is quick with his hands to punch or steer defenders off their path and then he can reset his feet and react to a second move. He has excellent reactions, but because he is a naturally tall player, he has trouble sinking his weight quickly once a defender gets into his frame.

Re: RI: Allen: 'We're going 100 mph getting ready for free agency'

Some names we should watch out for in free agency who aren't scheduled to be Free Agents, but could be cut:

Adalius Thomas (3-4) OLB NE
Jamal Williams (3-4) NT SD
Joey Porter (3-4) OLB Miami
Matt Light OT NE
Ladian Tomlinson RB SD
Reggie Bush RB NO
Bob Sanders SS IND (could be cut because of money and the fact they made it all the way to the super bowl without him)
Aaron Smith (3-4) DE Pittsburgh
Derrick Johnson (4-3 OLB, 3-4 MLB) KC
Kerry Rhodes FS NYJ
Deion Branch WR Seattle

No more salary cap so thats kind of a low ball offer especially for a guy like Tra Thomas who's sure to have options. Should get something like $1-$2 milion a year.

Can you picture Reggie Bush in a Redskins Jersey? He's set to make $6-8 Million this year and he plays anywhere from a quarter to half the snaps. With Drew Brees rumored to get a HUGE contract extension this offseason this could be quite a development

If Bush leaves NO he'll go to Seattle to play for Pete Carroll

Wow you are probably right. I bet Reggie restructures to stay in NO though. In fact I got a feeling several of the guys there will want to stay and the ownership will do what it takes to retain most of the roster.
