Re: Campbell A Raider

I always liked the Raiders, though w/age I don't really follow teams other than the Skins that much other than just watching important games. Since JC is there now & they made some good picks this weekend, I think the raiders may at least be respectable & I'll route for them. We don't play them for another 3 years.

I don't know if JC can win the job there but I'll be routing for him. Actually, they have quite a logjam at qb, it's quite possible that JC gets cut.

Re: Campbell A Raider

I would be pretty surprised if he got cut. JaMarshmallow? Gradkowski? The starting job should be JC's for the taking.

I'd be a little surprised but if he got cut, but I would be just as surprised if he gets the starting job. I think its Gradkowski's for the taking right now. C. Frye is also on their roster.

Who knows what Al Davis is thinking w/Jamarcus? Most teams would cut him, but Al Davis might try to hold on & hope he comes around.

Not sure what people see in Gradkowski, if JC is an average starter, Gradkowski is definitely below average, in fact he really hasn't proven he's a true starter yet. He's got a career QB rating of 65.9, his numbers are very underwhelming to say the least.

Bruce Gradkowski: Career Stats

Plus he's having surgery for a torn pectoral, he should be back from training camp but still, it's a setback.

Maybe Gradkowski looks good because he comes in for Russell.

Oakland made some GREAT O-line picks, two guys I wouldn't mind seeing here in Bruce Campbell and Jared Veldheer. Even with two rookies, this line is better than Campbell was abused behind last season with us.

The Raiders somehow had a GREAT draft. McClain is a monster, two great O-Tackles, some defensive depth.

He could actually see some success there. They always have a good running game too.

Good luck Jason, you'll need it.

I just can't understand why we gave him away for a 4th rounder in 2012. We might as well just gave him away for free. He's better than that. We could have kept him as a backup for one year instead of getting ripped off like this. Also, if we had drafted another QB late, this move would have made more sense. Jevan Sneed went undrafted, then signed with the Bucs.

Does this mean Colt Brennan is definitely staying?

Re: Campbell A Raider

I hoped JC17 would produce, but he didn't. Best of luck to the man in Oakland.

No QB would have done well with all the missteps the FO and DS had. The O line was a scrap heap of duct tape and bailing wire. Dan Marino would have had a tough time behind our O line of the last few years.

I don't excuse Campbell's play only based on the protection (or lack there of).
He was fairly classy overall, but his lack of personal accountability left me scratching my dome. Overall I'd say he was an average QB. Not a star, or even a contender. At least we have a stud now(even if he is on his last legs).

MS and BA will lead this team. For the first time since the Squire died I feel we have a legit team. If DS can keep his hands off we can and will be a contender again. Winning is EVERYTHING.

HTTR!

It's actually a 4th rounder, but I get the feeling that Oakland was kind of in the driver's seat with this one. They knew we had gotten McNabb and that eventually Campbell had to be traded or cut, I don't think anyone bought MS' whole "we'll keep Campbell if need be".

Personally, I'd be willing to give just about everyone a second chance because of this. The team was badly managed by the previous FO and coaching staff. Which is why I'm ok with not doing a complete house clean up.

We're probably lucky to have gotten anything for him. There was talk a week or two ago that teams were just going to wait for us to release him.

Yeah i agree. I think most of the NFL world was expecting Campbell to be released prior to training camp, or shortly after the draft.

So you watched the same QB as I did over the past five years. He might have a big arm but he cannot hit the side of a barn down field. His feel for the long pass down right sucked. When he should have lead the WR in he threw it out when he should have lead the WR out he threw it in. When he finally had a wide open WR down field he missed. I don't get how any one can say he had this vertical attack because I think that is the worse part of his game.

A 4th in 2012 ought to help people who scream this FO is just trying to win now. I think it demonstrates a willingness to build picks in the future rather than just accept a lesser pick this year.

Ditto. How many times did we see the ball even on short routes thrown behind the receivers? I'll admit he's safe with the ball, but being safe with the ball only means he didn't turn it over. Any QB who can throw the ball into the dirt and out of bounds would be considered safe with the ball.

He was an upgrade from Brunell. Atleast he could scramble and get the ball beyond 10 yrds once and a while. We have McNabb, who is supposed to be far and above better then JC. As long as we have upgraded and not made a lateral move like they tried to do last summer I'm happy.
