I don't see how signing Bobby Wade and Joey Galloway is going to lower the TO price tag.

Maybe he will lower the price tag just to join Donovan again and play in the best division in football. As well as, take care of some unfinished business..

As long as DS makes money, he doesnt care. Even though all signs point to us having a 5 or 6 win season, The Dan is going to make loads of money, until people stop going to the games....

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 8)

i have no prob with the DS making money off the skins, with our fan following and the structure that is the NFL, he would be the worst business man in the workd if he didnt.

Im happy he is putting the money back into the skins and their facilities. the HD stadium screen is a belated start. I heard our training facilities/weight rooms are some of the worst in the league (SS is that right?), so i would love to see upgrades to our facilities like that as well.

Not sure what signs you're looking at, but from where I sit I'm seeing a much improved team from last year.

Agree 44. I travel from Charleston, SC 600 miles just to go to FedEx for the night then turn around and head straight home. I have done that twice in 08 and 07. I love the Redskins, and I don't see that changin anytime soon.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 8)

These signings of Joey Galloway and Bobby Wade could mean 1 of 2 things. #1, Shanahan saw what MK, SM, DT, n MM had to offer at the previous 3 day work out and wasn't impressed or #2 (which is the one i think is more likely) is shanahan is signing these two to have them take guys like DT, MK n MM under their wings during OTAs n training camp, give them some lil veteran tricks of the trade, and they'll both be cut b4 the season actually starts. Sorta like the giants did with Joe Horn that one OTA a few years back, except shanahan is gon get the most out of it lol, if not, he woulda just SIGNED Keenan McCardell instead of making him our WR coach lol its the same thing except these guys will be on the field. Unless Galloway or Wade, show sumthin that our current receivers dont possess, they are likely to be cut before the season starts

I think its competition oriented. I have no worries, I think if Mitchel and the young crew makes it to preseason they'll be able to show how they produce on the field.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 8)

After being out of town for a week with Mrs. backrow, (35th Anniversary) I just could not understand how we piled up all the quality (?) in the late rounds. Hence (don't you love a sentence starting with hence?) the following breakdown. I'm providing the link and the parts pertaining to the B&G!

Trade tracker: Seahawks get Washington, White

1. Sunday, April 4
Eagles ship McNabb to Washington for second-rounder
Eagles receive:
Second-round pick (No. 37):
Nate Allen
2011 third- or fourth-round pick
Redskins receive:
Quarterback Donovan McNabb

Analysis: The trade of McNabb to the Redskins netted a high second-round pick, which the Eagles used to get Nate Allen. The Cowboys' selection of Dez Bryant may have forced the Eagles' hand here to add depth to the defensive secondary.

2. Tuesday, April 20
Rams ship Carriker, a former first-round pick, to Redskins
Rams receive:
Fifth-round pick (No. 135):
Traded to Falcons
Seventh-round pick (No. 211):
Marquis Johnson
Redskins receive:
Defensive tackle Adam Carriker
Fifth-round pick (No. 163):
Traded to Dolphins
Seventh-round pick (No. 208):
Traded to Patriots

Analysis: Carriker, a 13th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, has started in 25 games in three years and missed the entire 2009 season due to a shoulder injury. In Washington, Carriker will be reunited with Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, a former Rams coach. More ...

Carucci: Eagles put themselves in tough spot
Wyche: Eagles comfortable turning to Kolb

3. Dolphins move in to snag Georgia safety
Dolphins receive:
Fifth-round pick (No. 163):
Reshad Jones
Redskins receive:
Sixth-round pick (No. 174):
Dennis Morris
Seventh-round pick (No. 219):
Terrence Austin

Analysis: The Dolphins continue to upgrade their secondary, this time with a player who had 11 career interceptions in college and earned a reputation as an explosive hitter. The Cowboys countered by selecting a tight end 11 picks later.

(Backrow's edit: I think the writer meant Redskins, not cow-not-quite-men!)

4. Redskins trade Campbell to Raiders
Raiders receive:
Quarterback Jason Campbell
Redskins receive:
2012 fourth-round pick

Analysis: With Donovan McNabb now the starting quarterback in Washington, Campbell became expendable. The Raiders, meanwhile, were looking for an upgrade at quarterback after former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell was benched last season. More ...

5. Patriots move to top of seventh round
Patriots receive:
Seventh-round pick (No. 208):
Thomas Welch
Redskins receive:
Seventh-round pick (No. 229):
Erik Cook
Seventh-round pick (No. 231):
Selvish Capers

Analysis: The Patriots further bolstered their depth along the offensive line with Welch, a tight end-turned-tackle. The Redskins hope they have done the same with the two picks they received from the Patriots, adding a center (Cook) and tackle (Capers) to their roster.

Well, at the time we needed a CB. He was the best on the market. At the time I didn't see anything wrong with it. No different then half the over priced signings we have had around her.... Archulletta? Lloyd? etc. etc.

I agree with the second half but dissagree with the first half. I love the optimism. My issue was Cerrato. Well... Zorn's scheme also but Cerrato was my real issue. It's not like the best of the best GM's were floating around and DS could pick up whoever he wanted. He had to pick up the best available and I think Allen is pretty good. Atleast I think he's better then Cerrato. But as a side note the GM has to hire a HC he thinks he can get along with and work with. In this case Allen and Shanahan had already talked and wanted to work together.

In any event Allen/Shanahan being on the same page is 10x better then Cerrato and whoever is selected to be HC. Now having a coaching staff hand picked by Shanahan who he thinks he can work with and will be on the same page only makes us even better. Getting rid of the dead wood that was collecting a paycheck and replacing with players (hopefully) who will work their butts off is icing on the cake. The only thing DS has to do is sit back pay the bills and enjoy the game. That and smile on Sun.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is what on earth does this team or DS have to do in order to finally get some of you to climb aboard the bandwagon again? I'm somewhat guilty. I've kept the avatar I've had since the end of the season. My little protest avatar, the blue NFL avatar, was traded for the scripted R helmet. I probably should change it to reflect one of the players, but I have been lazy and have held on to it with the understanding that if they do things the right way I'll change it. What else do they have to do? win more games then last yr? get to the playoffs? get to the SB? I think now even I'm being a bit critical. The front office has changed, the HC has changed, the coaching staff has changed, half the team has changed? what else is needed? All we can do now is hope the changes made will accomplish something.
