I'm sure the lack of draft picks in recent years plays a part in that. So when you look at the shear number of over-30 vets signed this year, some of not most will be seeing significant playing time.
Sandtrap, what would you do in this situation: You are a new coach who needs to overhaul the roster. However, it is the beginning of an uncapped year so there are fewer young free agents on the market. You also do not have your full number of draft picks.

What you would do is bring in many older players who might fit your system. If some of them stick, then you've found contributors. If they are too ancient to be capable, you would cut them.

The fact is that if you look closely you will see that Shanahan is trying to get younger but lacks significant resources for doing so.

Sandtrap is our token Cowboys fan. There are a couple others, but he visits regularly.

Remind me again what has changed since Allen became GM?
We tried to sign your mom but she said she's too busy.

We will have several unique formations this year in addition to the 10 WR offense, we will have a 5 RB set and then the infamous 4 TE formation. There will be a lot of creativity this season.

I think this may also be Allen doing Galloway a favor. "Bruce, let me come to camp and show that I still have something to offer so some other team might want to pick me up after seeing that I can still play" "Sure Joey, why not? No harm done here"

BA: " Joey please come here we need you as our number one!"

JG: " No problem, let me check with my nursing home to make sure they can drop me off each day, shouldn't be a problem see you soon!"

(later that day)

JG: "Bruce, I've got good news and bad news. I got the ride approved, but I can't get out of Bingo calling till August."

BA: "Joey, Let me call Sherm, he may be available to us, just not sure if we finished the lawsuit against his grandmother."

(9pm)
BA: "Good news, Sherm can do it"

JG: "Bruce you can't call after bedcheck!"

Seven years ago, it would have been a great move!

Even through 2007, he's been a solid WR...missed games last two years but he could be a solid contributor if healthy. He could out-produce Malcolm Kelly.

We picked up Bobby Wade too. Interesting...
