| WP: Cerrato gets an extension http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Feb24.html Vinny Cerrato has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Washington Redskins to continue as vice president of football operations. Last season, Cerrato, 43, was promoted from director of player personnel to his current position. |

| I wouldn't mind this so much if Cerrato wasn't such a Yes Man... Gibbs will have his way...just remember who Snyder "grew" up watching his team win Super Bowls...

| cousinvinnie! cousinvinnie is pretty fair evaluator of talent at the top of the FA food chain and at the top of the Draft, but a blank palette when it comes to evaluating talent further down in the draft, and a blank wall when it comes to trading for DL to fill out a team during late summer, or to fill in any team injury needs. Overall, anyone here can read Mock Drafts and other teams rosters to see who the starters are and the best subs! The job could easily be done by anyone here on this board! I think that is the point! Anyone could do his job!

| Top picks aren't just a drop in the bucket folks, ever heard of a draft bust?? There are far more busts that come from top picks than don't, so let's not just write off what Vinny has done with top picks as blind luck. The whole draft is a crapshoot, not just the later rounds. |

| With the way Gibbs has said they are working the draft, with all the coaches, scouts, etc, etc, going to the combine, going over all the potential draftees and then all getting together to pool their thoughts and recommendations and then decide who to take and looking at free agency and trades before that, I don't think anything will be left up to Vinny to decide. I think we'll get what need in any case. |

| Sounds as if Cerrato may be relegated to trade & contract negiations. He will be the wine and diner of the bunch.

| I too agree with Matty and think that Cerrato has gotten a bad rap. Our personnel have been great since Vinny has been here, the leadsership has sucked. Coles, Thomas, Dockery, and RAMSEY were all of Cerrato's guys. Anyone recall how Spurrier didn't want Ramsey but CERRATO saw somethign in him? That is enough for me. Those acquisitions far outweigh any mistakes he's made. Frankly I don't know why there is so much whining about the guy. Yes, yes he failed on the dline last year, but given the strength of our secondary (which we thought would produce coverage sacks by a pathetic front four) and LBs (who we thought would bring some heat), I don't really blame Cerrato. I'd give him a B+ for the job he's done. |

| The proof will be in the pudding. We're going into the draft with two picks and a lot of holes. If Vinnie can do something with that and get us into playoff contention (not looking for the superbowl this year, just having the skins on those late season bubble charts ESPN always does) then he's the guy. If it's another lackluster performance by overpaid, undermotivated players then we have a problem. I tend to think there is a master plan in all this (at least I'm hoping) and Vinnie is getting the players that Gibbs and staff need to win. |
