Will Auburn get hosed?

We find out at 5 today. 12-0 in the hardest college football conference in the world. Beat a ranked opponent (15) by 10 while USC almost lost to unranked (6-4) UCLA team. They won by a mere 5 points. God is this system flawed.

I hope not. My Dad is an Auburn alum, as are several of my relatives. Auburn really deserves a shot at the title.

Auburn really deserves it more than any of the teams, I belive. But its pretty clear they are going to be the odd team out. The BCS sucks! On top of that, Calafornia who went 11-1, with their only loss being a 7 pt heartbreaker to FREAKING U.S.C the #1 team all season, is going to get left out of the BCS as well. Unreal. This system blows.

The powers that be in college football just don't get it....pack of idiots. This clearly demonstrates that the college football hierachy and the NCAA are seroiusly flawed. There is too much power at the top. How can 99% of players, coaches, students, alumni, press, TV networks and fans all want a playoff system. But because of a couple dozen college presidents say no we are stuck with this BS system we have now. How many more Co-National Champions do we need to have before the system is fixed? Co-National Champs - what a joke. It irks me to just say or write it!

I think some aspect of a playoff system would be fair. I'm not sure on the details, but I think as long as you're going to have the BCS, it's always going to be flawed.

lets do a playoff I-AA has a playoff, why can't the big boys? and for all you auburn apologists, cry me a river... they played a weak schedule. they played the citadel ul monroe, etc. their strength of schedule is much weaker than the likes of ou or usc. yeh, the bcs is flawed, but all the human polls have ou and usc 1 and 2 as well.... so your arguement doesn't hold any water!

That's the guess right now, skinsguy.
D151B: The also beat:
LSU defending champs, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee x2, Mississsippi and Mississippi State (SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT), many of those teams ranked when they played them.

USC had their share of easy games too. Arizona? Colorodo State? Hell, they almost lost to Stanford and UCLA.

Oklahoma got Bowling Green, Houston, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Colorodo. Everyone has easy games in college ball.

Auburn soundly defeated every team it played and they deserve every shot in the world. Hopefully the announcers will say what happens with voting during the skins game.

Oh you HAVE to be kidding me.....
Auburn played a much tougher schedule, the SEC is so much better than the Pac 10 and Big XII
USC:Top Teams they beat Va. Tech/Cal. And they struggled w/ Oregon St and UCLA
Oklahoma: Top teams they beat Texas
Auburn: Tennesee x2, LSU, Georgia

Just because their out of conference schedule isnt as tough dosent mean their in conference is. They played a MUCH tougher schedule than the other two.

10-9 against lsu was a sound thumping indeed ;-) if you look at auburn's opponents combined win loss record is way below what usc and oklahoma played. i think they have an arguement but not much of one. if someone wants to talk about how the bcs is flawed why don't you mention how texas who's only loss was against the #2 ranked team in the nation, might be left out of a bcs bowl game. now that's just plain criminal. i really feel for the ut fans, but maybe they'll jump cal this week, who knows?

I agree, d151b, Texas is getting screwed. It looks like Utah might too. I think the top 8 teams should go to a play-off system.

So what if they jump cal? Then Cal gets f*cked. Their only loss was against the NUMBER 1 team in the nation, and they might get let out. The only thing wrong with the BCS is that it dosent crown a national champion. Somoene tell me any sport, at any level from Pee-Wee to Senior, where you can win every single time you play... and not be the champion. Its rediculous.
Btw... USC barley beat Va Tech and Barley beat Oregon St and Barley Beat Cal
Oklahoma Barley beat Texas, and Barley beat Texas A&M and Barley beat Oklahoma St.

VEEEEEEEEERY interesting.

This is where the problem lies. There is no other sport where this is a conversation. If anyone cries about not being in the title game, you can just tell them " win all your games". Obviously we'll just have to agree to disagree. Just like I thought USC was the best team last season, I think Auburn is this season. I feel cheated as a College Football fan.

this system is flawed... even though my team benefits this year, i still hate the bcs. it's a sham when a conference champ that goes undefeated in its conference can't play in the dance.

but au fans shouldn't slam either sc or ou... it is the system's fault, not theirs. both teams did what they had to do. defending my boys, yes we did have a few close games this year. but we were the no. 1 target each and every game as preseason number one, regular season number one, and now end-of-season number one. as the number one team in the nation, you are the opponent's super bowl of the year. so we have a few games where the score is way closer than you'd like- who doesn't in college football?

we beat va-tech in basically their house (if you were at the game like i was, you know it was a home game). many considered the acc the strongest conference in the country before the year started. we beat cal, who was jobbed outta the bcs as well. not blaming texas, but if cal lost out b/c of a close win against southern miss., then what about texas against kansas? both teams in the orange bowl have beaten one bcs bowl team... if it was switched between cal and texas, sc would have been the only team in the nation to beat TWO bcs bowl teams this season. say what you want about close wins, that is amazing.

besides- coaches, not just ap writers, must be on to something. having said that, if we played like we did against ucla, ou will spank us january 4th.
