I'm sorry but I find this pretty racist IMO. Dukes should be in hot water for this statement
This is not racist at all. People need to lighten up.

Brady has had an elite defense and a HOF coach. Super Bowl wins aside, I think Manning and Brady have been pretty equal and honestly I don't see the need to declare one better than the other. Each of them have had proven their greatness and each of them have overcome a lot of obstacles (Brady - lack of WRs, Manning - lack of a defense, etc., etc.).

If Michael Irvin can stay employed, Dukes won't be in any trouble.

So Mallet admitted using drugs during his combine interview?

Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?

I guess the "racist" overtone is that Jamie Dukes equates "street" to be being exclusively black.

If Jamie had just called Mallet "street" without the "caucasian" part that would have been fine but since the qualifier of "caucasian" was added, it makes inference that the speaker (jamie) equates "street" with being black.

It basically like me saying "my black attorney friend" instead of just saying "my attorney friend". When you throw in the race qualifier comment, its basically saying this particular person is an exception to my sterotypes of racial beliefs. Its not overt racism, just how alot of people think.

Any person white, black or purple who says they dont see/consider race is lying to themselves imo, people consciously and subconsciously factor in/consider another persons race in every situation, big or small.

First time I've heard about him admitting to using. There must have been some good dirt out there him to the point where he knew he'd better admit it vs lie and watch his stock drop even further.

I thought the list of good character guys is interesting since a few of them may be on our radar.

I remember the same stuff was said about Dan Marino when he came out. He partied too much, he used drugs and so on. What college kid hasn't smoked a little weed? I'd focus more on what the guy did on the field and what his teammates and coaches think of the him.

IMO Manning makes those WR's look better then they really are. He makes everyone around him better. Arguing Brady vs Manning is like deciding between a NY Strip and a Filet...both are great...just comes down to personal preference. I will take the NY Strip & Manning.

Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?

I think some fans need to get on the same page as this dude from that article.

Quote:
If I had to choose between a (quarterback) with great intangibles and average talent or (a quarterback with) average intangibles and great talent, I'd take the (stronger) intangibles every time." one veteran NFL executive said.
That's why you say hell no to guys like Newton and Clausen.

Quote:
"Only the tip of the iceberg has (been reported) about (Newton)," one NFL executive said. "He has won two national championships, won the Heisman (Trophy) and had great production in one year. He's an athlete with a strong arm. But there is so much there. ... Mark my words — the team that drafts him will have an owner who reports to himself or a GM who is planning to be retired on the beach in three years."
haha....a GM said this about Newton. I feel the same way.

I guess a lot depends on the team. Personally, while I don't think we're the Bengals, I don't think our team is fit to handle a rookie with questionable character issues.

Thats all well and good but I don't want anaverage QB that's a great guy either. Jason Campbell was a great guy...I don't have a bad word to say about him except that he wasn't good enough. I am ready for the Redskins to have the complete package Great ability and great intangables....

Jason Campbell was a 2-3 round grade talent. Gibbs was a fool to trade up into the first round to pick him up. He had 2 RBs while at Auburn that both went in the top 5 of that draft. He had ONE good year while at Auburn, and his other years were absolutely crap to the point where he was benched twice.

In fact, the same flaws that were scouted on JC were the same flaws he displayed here in DC. I'll run them down for you.

Quote:
Analysis: Positives... Has a very strong throwing arm and quick feet to avoid pressure, but is better suited throwing out of the pocket. ... Does a nice job of carrying out fakes and has a quick, high release with the strength to get the ball downfield. ... Is developing good toughness in the pocket and no longer looks for a rush lane or to hold on to the ball too long when his primary targets are covered. ... In 2004, Campbell had very good success with the deep outs, fades and posts. ... Shows better timing and the ability to give his receivers a chance to compete for the ball than he did in the past. ... Does a good job maneuvering when forced out of the pocket, but is better standing in the pocket than on the roll out, as he is more effective when he has a chance to time his throws. ... His natural athletic skills are what makes him an intriguing prospect, but understand that this is a player that has had to digest four different offensive systems during his four years in college. ... Made excellent progress in most areas of his game over the last year. ... Used to lock on to his main target too much, but coach Al Borges showed him that with patience, he does a much better job of scanning the field or taking hits stepping up in the pocket.

Negatives... Still, for a player of his size, he shows good mobility. ... When he rolls out of the pocket, he will sometimes hold the ball low and exposed, resulting in costly fumbles. ... Still needs to show better judgement, but has the power behind his throws to thread the ball in a crowd. ... His touch on his long ball has improved quite a bit, but he still needs to work on his underneath throws. ... Still has not fully grasped the mental aspect of calling his own game yet, and will need to have the plays called for him until he can prove that he can handle play-calling on his own. ... Does well in school (3.0 grade point average). His first Wonderlic test score (14) was lower than you like from a player at the quarterback position, but he then scored a much-improved 28 at the Combine in February. ... Needs to work on some fundamentals, especially his feet in his pass set, but he has the quickness to get back from center. ... Made more sound decisions in 2004 than he did in the past, but he still must improve in reading coverages.
Cliffnotes: JC should have never been drafted by us to start with. Especially in the first round expecting him to be NFL starting potential.
